My family is new to the Killeen area & this was our first Thanksgiving here. I have some special dietary requirements and we selected this restaurant based on the advertisement on their website indicating a "Thanksgiving Buffet" which included several "starters, main course and side dish options and dessert" all for one price. We chose this option because the buffet style & listed food items gave me some selections which met my needs and also provided good options for the rest of my family.
Upon arrival at the restaurant we were presented a menu with approximately 5 set main course offerings, each priced differently, as well as 3 or 4 "starter options" also priced separately. The main course options did include an all you can eat dessert bar. Oh, and cranberry sauce was available for yet an additional cost. When we asked about the advertised "buffet" we were informed that the ad had been placed on the website in error by the corporate office and was actually for a location in another state. At this point I considered leaving and making another choice for dinner as the prices were a bit higher than we had planned on but we decided to stay and try it out since it was our first visit.
The food was acceptable, but not anything exceptional. We felt it was way overpriced for the quality and quantity of food and, truthfully, we probably will not return simply due to the cost. While we were there we asked to see the regular menu and, although some of the menu items looked good, we just felt they were overpriced and then realized we were viewing the lunch menu and not even the dinner menu.
It's a nice restaurant with an upscale atmosphere if you don't mind the prices. They did offer a discount to seniors and military which is nice. It might be a nice place for special occasions, but honestly, we will probably choose to make the drive to Austin or Waco for options more suited to our...

I am currently doing a taco tour and rating chips and salsa, lime margaritas and steak tacos on a scale of 1-5. When my child is with, she rates the chicken taco.
Chips and salsa: The chips were homemade, light and airy. They were served warm and salted perfectly. The salsa was sweet, full of fresh flavor and had a kick that did not linger. The salsa was more puréed than chunky - 5
Lime Margarita on the rocks: It wasn’t the greatest, it wasn’t the worst. The initial couple of drinks tasted like a margarita mix. But the more watered down it got, the less of a mix it tasted like - 3
Happy hour from 4-6 on margaritas making them $2.99
Steak Taco: Flavor: 3.5 Fullness: 4 Appearance: 2.5
When the taco was brought out it, the initial appearance was disappointing due to the tortilla being out of the package and not prepared any way. The tortilla appeared to have been removed from a package and placed on the plate. The steak was cut in bite size pieces and looked like it was going to be dry. Surprisingly despite the over charring on some pieces the meat was actually tender and quite flavorful. Despite there being nothing done to the tortilla it actually held up well when eating. Even though visually the taco looked like it was going to be a disappointment, it was actually a really good taco. We would come back and have more.
Chicken Taco: Flavor: 3 Fullness: 4 Appearance: 4
It was a good meat to cheese ratio. The meat had good flavor to it.
Service: Our server was very nice and accommodating - 5
We also ordered queso fondito for an appetizer which is chorizo and cheese, served with chips that was delicious!

Read moreShilo Inn does not serve interracial couples. My husband's company had invited us to the 2019 Christmas party to this place. We were preordering our prepaid "gourmet menu" individually several weeks in advance. Everyone was served, with the exception of my husband and me. When the guests of the company had nearly finished their plates, we inquired why we had not received our plates yet. Finally, instead of the menu he had ordered, a plate with a small, cold, old heap of slimy noodles was slammed in front of my husband. I inquired where my dinner was, and was told that mine would be served at a later time. Dinner was over, and the raffle started. When the personnel cleared the tables, I told the waitors that I still had not received my dinner, and showed them my meal ticket. The ticket was snatched from my hand, and I was told that I would not be served. A waitress pocketed the ticket and told me that now my ticket was gone, nothing she could do for me. My husband and I decided to leave the party and to buy a pizza on the way home. We got the message: mixed marriages don't get served in the Shilo Inn in Killeen, Texas. Shilo Inn is not the only anti-miscegenation venue in Killeen. We have made the experience that we are better off driving to Austin to dine out. At least in Austin there are many restaurants where you can be confident that they don't spit at the very least on your food, if they serve you at all, as in...
