Quality ice cream, good selection, and fair prices; apparent bitter attitude in the owner... which may explain his debit card policy. First visit, owner present and seated near register; appeared to be training new employee. Employee was exceptionally courteous; suspected he was the owner, I asked and he was confirmed as such. Nary any acknowledgment by owner, no eye contact, certainly no smile, and no gratitude as I left...save from the cheerful employee. To the pricing, if you buy a single scoop on a cake cone...it'll be $2.85. Except that posted on a small sign on the freezer case which is attended to hold the attention to the ice cream, one would think, is the minimum $5 purchase policy. At the point of sale, after being served, if you haven't $5 in purchases, you'll be asked for cash or to add something...? Here's the BS in his policy: if you offer fare that will routinely be less than $5, either eat the 2.3% debit fee or price accordingly or write it off as allowed by the US tax code. To add insult to injury, rest most assured that when you buy $50 in product and pay cash, he'll not offer to refund the 2.3% card fee he'll enjoy by your cash.
UPDATE FOLLOWING OWNER CHILDISH, CLOAKING REPLY: Young man, I can pick you out of a crowd; it was you who conducted yourself just as I stated. And you said jack and squat about your debit policy nor the fact that you keep the tips from the tip jar as two other customers cited, rather than to your great and kind and exceptional employees. There is nary the first assumption in my real time experience in your business, as you just stated. Iâve been in this great US Army longer than youâve been alive....so let me offer this: try offering a remedy to adverse reviews rather than trying to flick the booger onto the customer; take booger, and just clean up the mess or potentially prosperous...
Read moreThe wife and I always love going to get ice cream here. Yes itâs a little expensive and yes itâs only Blue Bell ice cream but the young kids that work behind the counter are always friendly and work hard to please every customer. My problem is with the owner. There is a tip jar sitting on the counter and I would always put a buck or two it. Then I found out the tips donât actually go to the employees, the owner keeps them....He tells the young kids if he were to give them the tips he would lower their hourly wage. Are you kidding me! Then why even have the tip jar up there!? So then I started giving it directly to the employee that helped me. Well last week, I tried to tip the young man that helped us and he went to put in the tip jar. I told him âNo, I know who those tips go to and that is for you,â Unfortunately I know after I walked out he put it the tip jar, to line his employerâs pockets. Even though my wife and I actually liked going there, we wonât be visiting Rock and Roll Ice cream parlor again unless this...
Read moreA slightly hidden GEM! The ice cream took me back to my childhood! I had just taken my children to the lovely Lions Club park for a long walk with our doggies and felt like having a treat. First of all, the place is adorable! The young man behind the counter was extremely welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. The ice cream was out-of-this-world! The prices are very reasonable! I already want to go back for more of flavor I tried...banana cream pudding! It sounded so strange but took me back to my childhood. I want to go back and buy the whole tub, LOL! That dessert was a regular at my grandma's and any family gatherings! I had it in a chocolate dipped waffle cone and I was in heaven! My son had rocky road and exclaimed "Mom, there's REAL marshmallows in this!" And the girls loved the mint chocolate chip and the young man's favorite, cookies and cream. We hadn't been to an ice cream parlor in so long. This is the real deal! Support your local small business and go treat yourself! We'll be back...
