Go to Belton. This as fair of a review as I can write.
Is the food good? Yes. Here is my recent experience I want to share with my community. I've been visiting the Killeen and Belton locations of Nami for years. We enjoy the food a great deal. We eat there often. I enjoy the atmosphere and service in Killeen much less. My most recent experience involved a simple take out order. I called in and spoke to the restaurant employee. I ordered (2) Steak and Shrimp for Two. This is a meal on the menu, and obviously should more than feed four people easily as the portions are pretty decent. I was in a hurry picking up the food, and I was given two bags with multiple containers. Upon arriving home I realized that I had only received (1) Steak and shrimp for two, i.e. two portions of food which we eat regularly and are familiar with. I was not sure what happened, and then I looked at the price, it seemed low, so I called the restaurant to speak to a manager. From the moment of the interaction with the manager, she was upset at me for even calling, it was clear I was bothering her. I asked her to clarify what food comes with (1) order of Steak and Shrimp for two. I only had two salads. I only had two soups. I had two boxes of food. This was not a four person meal. When I was asking the questions about what is included with the meal, she immediately began to insult me and say things like I cannot expect to feed four people with one meal. I asked her to stop interrupting me and listen. I restated my question, about what comes with the meal. Steak, shrimp, rice, salad soup (per person), etc? Her answer was "I guess so, what you want me to do?". I asked her to not guess, and to clarify if what I received was TWO - Steak and shrimp for two, because the amount of food did not seem right. She got angry, again said words about not being able to feed more people with less food. She asked if I wanted to return to the restaurant and speak with the owner. I said I did, and I would come in. She walked somewhere, I could hear the conversation. The whole time she was yelling "He cheap, He cheap. He no want to pay for food". After some time the phone hung up, and I never got a reply.
I packed my food, and drove to restaurant with the food. After asking the bar tender and a waitress for help getting the manager, a different young man who was a waiter came to us. I told him I called, and she was expecting us. He said "Oh you're the one she's back there yelling about".
The manager would not come to see us. She just stood back there. Eventually an owner showed up and we talked. My wife did most of the (calm) explaining, and then the manager showed up, began to raise her voice to me again. She said to me "you don't talk to woman like that, you told me to stop talking and listen, you don't talk to woman like that". I'm sorry, but I never used one single vulgar or insulting term, and I am the customer. If I am speaking, you are listening. If I have to tell you that, your gender is not important at that time, your position is. "Manager", is the one to fix the problem not call me a cheap customer because your kitchen/order taker got my order wrong, and I am sitting here with the wrong food. This woman needs to fired immediately. The stated and implied feedback from the owner and at least one coworker is that she has anger issues, and a poor attitude.
So what went wrong? Well In spite of ordering (2) Steak and Shrimp for Two, the order take entered two "Double" steak and shrimp for two. It was all avoidable had the manager listened to me when I said what I ordered, stated what I had, and understood why I wanted to clarify what comes with an order of this type.
She was so busy trying to call me a cheap customer and assume I was complaining about portion sizes she never listened, she argued, she yelled at me on the phone, then again in the restaurant in front of customers. Received refund, will not return.
GO TO BELTON. See Mike. Better...
Read moreThis was the worst experience ever!! 2 1/2 hours to get our food! Waitress and Management sucked! Drinks watered down food was okay....I have been to Hibachi grills in New York, Colorado, Austin, Temple, Round Rock , Dallas and San Antonio! We went here for our friends Birthday I was excited because I hadn't been to one for over a year. So our reservations were for 7pm yet we didn't get seated until 730pm. Our waitress was horrible she had no experience she couldn't remember who had what messed up our orders and would ask you to hand her your cup to refill it way across the table instead of going around and refilling it. She had a snide attitude about things we asked. First our drinks came after sitting for another 30 minutes she couldn't remember Wich dacquri was alcoholic or non alcoholic Wich was pretty important since we had 2 pregnant women who ordered non alcoholic. Not sure that it might have mattered because the one with alcohol tasted virgin. I ordered a Patron top shelf frozen margarita and got some melted icey with what seemed a drop of patron in it I could not taste the alcohol at all. We asked if we could order yet because it was now 8pm and everyone was starving the waitress really told us give me a minute I have to clear my other table first. Finally we ordered and again we didn't get our soup and salad or sushi until almost 9pm so we started asking where the cook was because every table around us that came the same time we did had eaten already. She kept saying the cook was preparing our tray so I guess it takes an hour to put some eggs vegetables and raw meat on a tray. We had to ask for chopsticks that took about 30 minutes for her to bring. So finally at 9:30 the chef comes out he starts cooking does no tricks what so ever and trys to make some dumb jokes. He had a couple of the orders wrong and all he said was sorry. We all got to eat around 10pm so now we had been here 3 hours!!! My friend had brought a cake for her husband and we asked the waitress if we could have 12 small plates for his cake she brought him a frozen piece of cheese cake on a small plate and said he gets it free for his birthday his wife then asked can we get 12 plates still for my cake the waitress told us No because those plates are only for birthdays we said but it's his birthday and your a resteraunt and your telling us you have no plates? She said her manager told her she could rip small Togo styrofoam boxes see e the cake on there! So this nice expensive fancy resteraunt just became all Killeen! Ghetto! Next we tell the manager all the issues and all he did was make excuses I told him the drinks were weak he goes oh yeah sorry.. Then when we got our check the waitress added 20% gratuity to everyones check so even tho she sucked! We still had to tip her! This was the worst place ever and really the food was not up to par for a Hibachi grill it's probably worth the extra 25 min drive to go to temple! The manager is a top rated douche bag offered no apologies or gave us nothing in return for our 3 1/2 our inconvenience! I've had to wait at Starbucks for 15 min and they at least comped my coffee! Who ever hires and runs this...
Read moreToday’s dining experience was quite interesting. This is not my first time dining here, but it was my first time here for lunch. Never again. In the past, I have had a decent time. Granted it’s not Benihana’s, Mori’s, or any other popularly known Hibachi restaurant chain, but it’s not the worst either. The food was not the issue today. The manager was the major problem. The restaurant lacks a hostess to greet and seat diners entering the restaurant. Most diners have to wait until the serving staff or a manager is available to seat them. For the price they charge that’s unacceptable. It should be seat yourself if that’s the case. The manager didn’t want to reserve a Hibachi grill for our large party despite the restaurant not being anywhere near capacity. The place was dead. He sat us down and allowed other diners to sit with us. Mind you we were a huge party and was waiting for a few more to join us. Once the entire party was present, I went to the manager privately to discuss us being relocated to a grill where all of us can sit together. He was not willing to relocate us and did not care that I was willing to dine somewhere else. That’s when I realize he didn’t value our money which is crazy because this a military city and everyone in the party were military personnel. Thankfully our server relocated the party while the manager and I tried to discuss our differences without it ending in conflict. The chef that was assigned to us was sub par (which I think was intentionally). Hibachi chefs are known to entertain and perform tricks. He made no effort to do anything but cook. The food lack seasoning and the chicken was rubbery and undercooked. The lunch menu is not expensive as the dinner menu which is a plus because I probably be livid if it was after today’s experience. In the hospitality industry, it’s a must to make sure a diner has a good experience. It guarantees constant revenue and retention. This manager on shift today could careless about that. There’s nothing worse than having a diner experience where the restaurant acts like they are doing you a favor to feed you. Hopefully this is just an isolated issue and not a reoccurring one. Value your...
