Bay Bistro TO-GO — Restaurant in Kilmarnock

I stopped in this afternoon to pick up two chicken croissant sandwiches for lunch. First I was very disappointed when I walked in. The deli case was a huge mess. Food signs were turned every which way making it impossible to read what was there. The quiches were made in pie pans instead of quiche pans and looked like my grandkids made them. The place really needed some sprucing up. Now to the sandwich which was my biggest disappointment because I was starving and had always had them from Carried Away. Great place to stop by and get some sandwiches, breakfast, treats, wine or whatever wonderful food things you can imagine. I've been here several times and have enjoyed it each time. It's a "bistro" but I think of it as a cheese shop or sandwich shop. It's hard to kind of describe but I'm sure you have been to a spot like this and enjoyed it. Recently, on a lark we tried it for breakfast. I had the classic biscuits and gravy and they put an interesting twist to things. The sausage in the gravy were big, chunky cubes of sausage. I'm shy and hesitant to try new things sometimes, but I decided to give this place a chance. I saw online that they offered grits, and I wanted to try them. I did an online order, which was easy and quick. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, hashbrowns, cheese grits, and a glazed donut. Everything was delicious.
