I went to the Kilmarnock, VA Subway in January of 2024 to get a sub for work. Worst mistake and huge waste of my time. I waited in line for 30 minutes. The lady at the register was taking payments with her gloves on and still putting condiments on the sandwiches. The lady making the sandwiches was resting her elbows on a customers bread. She used the bread as an armrest. She then put the wrong condiments on the sub. She took her hands and scraped all of the wrong condiments off. This was absolutely disgusting. When it was finally my turn to be waited on. She did not disappoint with the rudeness and unsanitary ways. When she cut my bread her elbow touched it. I asked her to change the bread because her elbow had touched it. She hesitated and mumbled under her breath and said her elbow was going to touch this one also. The other two employees laughed as if this was funny. I left and said I was calling corporate because of the terrible service and unprofessionalism. One of them said call them. I tried calling corporate every since then and all I keep getting is a recording to submit it online. I submitted 3 complaints online with an automated response "thanks for your inquiry." Pitiful. I even wrote a letter to the two corporate offices I found online with absolutely no response. My daughter orders with the app. She picked up her sub and 5 of the items she had ordered was missing. It took me 5 phone calls before someone answered at the store. The boy who answered said he was not there at 4. For me to call the next day and ask for the manager. I called and as usual no one answered the phone. I am having to call other Subways to try to get in touch with a live person I can speak to, a manager or someone who is in charge of this Subway. I am still waiting for my phone call. Every since they reopened the service is horrible. This Subway should be shut down immediately. New management and new employees are needed sooner rather than later. From corporate to store management right down to the employees they should all be fired. This is the worse and filthiest Subway I have ever been to. I will certainly not be returning. It is worth a drive to the Heathsville Subway. The employees are allowed to treat customers this way because management allows it. After reading all of the other one star reviews I am glad I am not alone with the poor service and attitudes. Honestly the way the elbow lady that was going to make my sub mouth looked. I probably did the best thing not getting a sub. They need a lesson on sanitation and that because you wear gloves you cannot go in and out of the doors, take payments, touch your cell phones and continue to make sandwiches. They should never have reopened this Subway. Shut this Subway down and fire all of the staff. I also noticed that no one from management has responded to anyone's reviews. This says a lot about the poor management team. There is no drive thru if it means you have to get out of your car and still go inside. Does anyone who manages this subway know what they are doing? They deserve no stars I had give one...
Read moreI hope they've hired new staff. I live 5 minutes from the Subway on Main Street in Kilmarnock, VA. Three times this year I've gone there a few minutes before 8pm and a little after 8pm. The door is unlocked, open sign on, customer being served, two employees working, just as I opened the door I was told by one of the employees , "We closed." I replied, "With your doors unlocked and a customer still be serviced?" That same employee replied, "He was just leaving." As she walked over to lock the door. The other employee said nothing. She just stood at the register with hands on hips. No explanation as to the reason was provided I walked to my car, sat down and watched. Another customer drove up and walked to the locked door and pulled the handle. All the while the "Open" sign was still on. Customer walked back to his vehicle just as the customer inside the store was heading out of the door. Employee walked to the back and next the store sign went out. That's one incident. I visited the store around 8pm on another evening. The same employee from the previous visit met me at the door. She told me the store was closing because they were out of bread. I could see the bread rack from the door. There were rows and rows of cooked bread on the trays. She closed the door and locked it. This happened again another time I visited. I tried going earlier around 7:30. Store "Open" sign turned off. Two employees inside slights dimmed. Doors locked. Neither moved from behind the counter. I told my daughter about the second incident. She said the young girls do that all the time. And that they pick and choose who they will serve. My daughter went on to say that they let my 23 year old son in everytime he goes there even if it's at or after closing time. Smh 🤔. This is how it is when you leave some young people working without supervision. I haven't frequented that...
Read moreMy handicapped mother had a terrible experience at this location today. I'm assisting her with sharing her experience. She placed an order for pickup.
Upon arriving at the location, she followed the large signs to the "Drive thru." After some tight turns she arrives at the window that is clearly non operational. She proceeds to attempt to drive forward around the building to exit -- but there was a vehicle parked IN the lane and she had no choice but to back up around tight curves and poles and curbs. This took her 15 minutes. If anyone had attempted to drive through that drive thru - they would have hit her. Due to her disability she could not get out of her car and walk around the building to get help :-(
She called the location while in the drive thru predicament and there was no answer. She was attempting to find someone in the store to move their car.
Attached are pics of the closed drive thru window and the car blocking the drive thru exit. After finally making her way out of the "drive thru" lane (that is marked as such) , she enters the building with her walking assistance device, gets her order, and then shares her experience with the 2 women employees.
She was told, "we haven't ever had a drive thru." Apparently there were signs that said no drive thru? But the woman stated , "The signs have been stolen or vandalized twice." The employees were angry in their tone , defensive , and non apologetic.
Come on Subway , we can do better with our elderly handicapped. This is a senior community and I would speculate a large number of orders are from elderly...
