China Gate — Restaurant in Kimberly

I’m an over the road truck driver, with a refined pallet. This restaurant should have a much higher rating. I’m giving 5 stars across the board, hoping to bring the average up. It should be 4.7-4.8. This place is WELL ABOVE most average Chinese restaurants, nationwide. I got 3 items: Spring rolls, Hot & Sour Soup, & Roast Pork Egg Foo Young. The spring rolls were the only negative. Flavor was fine, but they were small! About 75% of the average size. I wouldn’t order them again. The Soup is something I can judge any restaurant on……so I tried it first. It was “on point”! Better than 80% of restaurants I’ve tried. It was the way it’s supposed to be. Didn’t blow my mind but it was on par with the best I’ve had (in the ballpark). The Foo Young was great! The flavor was all there! Plenty of roast pork, and the gravy was good as well. The white rice was perfectly cooked. If I lived around here, I would look forward to trying other menu items. Based on what I had, this place is a solid Chinese Restaurant. Not sure where the low rating comes from……but it’s wrong! 4.7-4.8...

Just ordered several different dishes from them and the order was accurate and tasty. This is the first time I've ever had Chinese at any restaurant that didn't just dump salt all over everything and call it flavor. Even the chicken fried rice had barely any! I didn't go home and drink a half gallon of water afterwards. I don't think I'll order from any other local places again because they win just based on that. Their soup prices are crazy low too and they're not too oil and salt heavy, most leaning towards tangy flavor and mixed textures to carry the dish. Everything was cooked perfectly too. I'm very impressed and their prices are really good. I think anyone else complaining had a rare mix up or is expecting the quality of Chinese food you'd get for triple the money at an up-scale sit down...

My husband and I ordered $60 worth of food for ourselves, and the amount we got for the price was horrible. Our food came cold, soggy and tasted disgusting. Husband ordered chicken and fried rice. Barely any chicken, missing a pork roll, and his “fried” rice was just flavorless yellow rice. I ordered orange chicken and white rice. My white rice was the only thing in our whole order that was warm. My chicken didn’t taste like anything, and was soggy and just overall disgusting. The pork rolls and crab rangoons that we did get were basically just fried outside with almost nothing in the middle. Never will be ordering from here again. We should’ve...
