I was very disappointed by my most recent visit to the BBD at 946 w beale st in Kingman Az. Myself, my wife, sister, niece, nephew and a coworker stopped for "brunch after a long morning of moving products at the office and were really looking forward to a typical BBD meal. I have dined at several BBD.s including Bullhead and this one, and have come to expect a certain level of quality and service at them all, with the possible exception of this particular BBD. We have had minor problems with this one before, but usually limited to being out of one thing or another that we ordered. This has happened enough times that we avoided this particular BBD for a while. We do however understand that perfection is impossible to achieve, but is something that any business, especially a food service establishment should strive for, and that is what we generally find with BBDs. On this occasion however, we waited for 40 min after ordering to receive the first of our food, while watching everyone that came in after us, get theirs. During this 40 min our server never returned to our table to check on us, or bring the glass of water I asked for because my juice mix was so rich that I couldn't drink it without diluting it. After 30 min, my wife got up and asked the hostess to get my water. When the first plate arrived it was completely cold, had the wrong side on it and was subsequently sent back for a redo. A few minutes later the rest of the food was brought out, all various sandwiches. one was completely cold, the grilled onions asked for on the side were cold, and all of the fries were cold and dry. My order included Loaded fries, that aside from being a cold consisted of an almost indiscernible pinch of cheese and exactly 3 crumbles of bacon, and yet almost the entire batch was somehow adhered and could be picked all the way off the plate in one great mass. after eating what we could of the sandwiches (they were for the most part ok,except the cold one, I asked to speak to a manager. What I got was the hostess, because it seems there was no manager on site. She was very apologetic and did remove the 2 most expensive meals from our tab. (I'm sure she was limited as far as what she could do) But that still left us with a $110 and change bill for food that half of which was undesirable to say the least. Also of note was that after dropping our food, the server did not return except to drop the first plate that had to be completely redone, it arrived after everyone else finished eating by the way, but at least it was hot the second time around. Keeping in mind that there were only 2 occupied table in the restaurant when we arrived, so it wasn't because they were slammed. At the end of it I told the young lady that we would likely not return, as this was absolutely the worst dining experience I had ever had at a BBD and easily in the top 5 anywhere else. She did offer a free desert, but we were not interested, we just wanted to get out of there. The bottom line is that this was a complete failure to perform by the entire staff starting with the server and running right through the cook and manager (because absence does not excuse this level of failure. I don't know if it is incompetence, ignorance, indifference or a combination of the above, but the manager should know if they can't trust their crew to do their jobs correctly in their absence. I generally tip between 20 and 24% and I don't judge people by their mistakes but rather what they do to after the mistake, and in this case, the compensation was woefully inadequate to the complete failure by all parties involved. We do not hold BBD responsible as a whole and will move future dining with you to the Bullhead city store. It is further away, and always much busier, so less convenient and often has a bit of a wait to be seated, but they have never provided us with poor quality food or service. I just though that someone should know what is happening in the Kingman store with...
Read moreI was greeted super fast, very kind staff, the waitress was kind, yet a fast talker. She stated the steak was $14.99 for the 14 oz steak, later to find out it was like $25 to $27, the sides I saw the prices, I knew they were high. I went in thinking it was a 30 dollar meal all in. No matter how much I looked at the menu the staff ran by me so much as they generously served The other customers. The steak was raw, it had pink in it. I asked for it well done. The cornbread was wet on one side. I did not once have the chance to correct my order. I felt ignored and so stupid, I should of just walked out. I was a kind gentleman, and worked through it. The steak was warm and not hot as well done comes more than warm. The vegetables are awesome, the best there is. I just wish I was not racially profiled, by the looks of it when I paid they did not give me an itemized receipt. I saw how all they cared about was making money, what about me as an individual. Ignored ate what I had no choice but to accept trash from people LL who do not really see a customer who does not make a commotion. I held my peace, I really like the restaurant, that price no matter if I asked for help everyone was too busy. Maybe next time the coordination will not be hurry up, and help a customer be able to order when it was my first visit. That's the price you pay for being a kind customer, Now I know why one must and it's obligatory to be an AZZ to be treated with respect. I held my Kool, maybe next time I and first time customers get treated with honesty and patience and the proper...
Read moreAfter our experience this morning I am surprised to read good reviews for Kingman Blackbear Diner. We usually go to Bullhead City Blackbear and have had excellent service and very uplifting, light atmosphere there. But this morning we made the mistake of going to Kingman instead. We stood at the entrance for at least 3 minutes before they even acknowledged we were there even though they was standing right in front of us. We could not hear anything the person seating us was saying so we just followed but was thankful she gave us a booth. The waitress was fairly prompt to get our drinks and fairly prompt to take our order but from that time we waited far too long for our food. At least 30 minutes. During that time of waiting we was ignored and not waited on at all. When our food finally came it was cold and as a result didn’t taste good. We finished eating without even one waitress asking if our food was okay or if my husband needed his coffee filled. We had to go to the checkout to get the ticket for the meal then she just charged us without even letting us look at it. Then when we said something about the price she laughed and said that was cheap. We felt that $27 for our breakfast was rather spendy considering we didn’t get any real service and our food was cold. She did apologize for laughing. Said she thought we was joking but it kind of made the situation worse. We feel that IF we go to black bear diner again we will drive the extra miles to bullhead city where the atmosphere is light and happy, service is fast and the...
