Braeden's BBQ & Catering — Restaurant in Kingsport

My husband an I ate there on 10/04/2019. We was trying to decide between BBQ or Charley's Philly cheese Steak. How we wished we would've went with Charley's. First off nobody bothered to mention prices were a $1 higher than the menu price and did not find that out until I had paid already. I wouldn't have found out then but I had ordered the brisket sandwich for 7.99 I thought, the young girl said it comes with chips is that ok, I told her that was fine and I was also ordering two sides. Potato salad $1.79 & Mac Cheese $2.19 my total was almost $14.00 I realized the platter comes with two sides and Texas toast for 10.99 on menu. So when I ask wouldn't it have been better for me to have ordered the platter that comes with two sides. She said no, it would've been more. I ask how is that and only then was I told my brisket sandwich was a dollar more than what menu price said it was. She said all prices went up $1 but they hadn't changed them on the menu nor do they tell you unless you start asking about prices. My husband ordered the pulled turkey on menu for 6.99,onion rings on menu for 1.99 and side of dip for . 85 totaled 10.99 for his. His also came with chips which he got but I never got mine even after asking for them. I thought their prices was fairly reasonable but not agreeable with being told only after questioning about my meal that all sandwiched went up a $1.00 yet my husband's sandwich was same menu price he was charged. A bit dishonest if you ask me. When I ask for both receipts you couldn't see nor read anything on them which makes us being able to get reimbursed from our job impossible. Initial impression was positive, the atmosphere was nice and all of the staff were very friendly. The young lady who took my order suggested the chicken wings, and I ordered them along with the mac and cheese. My wife had the pulled pork, my brother and his family were in and his wife had the "nachos"(I put this in air quoted because I they use chips.. fresh hand cut house made chips), and my brother had the sampler platter with the pulled chicken, pulled pork and ribs. The wings were juicy and hot, very flavorful and dipped in their house made ranch it would be hard to find a tastier wing. Mac and cheese was definitely not the blue box stuff. Pulled pork was smoky, tender and very tasty. Baked beans were made to perfection, mostly sweet but a little savory. The nachos were absolutely stunning. It was a different experience because they used house made hand cut potato chips, they liked those high with fresh queso, pulled chicken and onions. The nachos burst with flavor, chips were super crispy and not hard and crunchy. THE RIBS ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST IVE EVER HAD!!!! And I don't say that lightly. I've travelled around the United States and the word with the Navy, and I've tried barbecue everywhere it was available. They served them dry rubbed, very very very juicy, so tender and absolutely seasoned to perfection.they offer a caddy if sauces to cater to any desire, but I personally enjoyed the ribs exactly as they were served. Very expensive, you get a lot of food but I think prices are still too high, the beans were okay, the potato salad was very sweet like they had put a lot of sugar in it and the burnt ends were not really burnt and crispy like I was told. They were just like chunks of meat put in some sauce, I was not impressed with them which was a shame since I had heard they were very good by several people. Ribs were dry and not very good, I like my ribs where they fall off the bone but these were not like that, they were stuck on the bones. Service was okay, it was a call in order to pick up, they said it would be ready in 25 minutes. So I waited to leave until I would arrive at the restaurant exactly 30 minutes after placing order so it would be ready. It wasn't, waited an extra 30 minutes at the restaurant before food was ready to go. Their excuse was they had 2 catering events going on, unexcusable, if they knew it was going to be a longer wait time they should have informed me on the phone when I called the order in.
