Great food for price. Scroll to botttom for the Summary
Full breakdown is this: I am afraid I went in after hours (according to google, it is 11-7, I went around 8). They were friendly, and they didn't say anything about me coming in late. Having never been to Dagwoods, I wasn't sure what I expected. I ordered a double cheeseburger on a homemade bun with barbecue sauce and a large fry. It came out under 10 (I think around 9.68).
The wait wasn't too bad (especially if I came in after hours), but I was the only one in the lobby. Your mileage may vary with more people.
The food came out in a (surprisingly large) brown paper bag. My first thought was "oh, they must have given me more than I paid for". In the bag was a large (very large) bag of fries, a large container of fry sauce, and a (again) surprisingly large burger.
The fries were right out of the fryer, and when combined with the fry sauce, they are really great. (I am still eating them as I write this). The fries really aren't anything spectacular, but I think that is what makes them, great. Most places in town can't seem to make decent fries.
The fry sauce is truly amazing. Better than David's Brawny Burger.
The burger came on a homemade bun, with the afore-mentioned barbecue sauce adorning the two fresh, high-quality burgers. I asked for no pickle or tomato, with onion on it. I don't remember eating any onion, but there is definitely a possibility that I did. I was quite hungry and the burger was very good. The burger in combination with the homemade bun definitely beats out just about every "homemade" burger in town. You can tell that they know how to make burgers, but it doesn't feel fake like a McDonald's burger or a Wendy's burger. It feels as if that is what they make for their families.
The homemade bun was rather interesting. It was definitely homemade, but it wasn't too floury or too bland like any other person's attempt at making a homemade bun. I can understand if people don't like it, simply because it is different then what people expect.
All in all, I definitely enjoyed Dagwood's Burger. I think for the price, they beat out all of the fast food places in town in quality, taste, and just sheer amount that they give you. It is a truly awesome sight. I would (and will) recommend them to others instead of most other...
Read moreHusband and I ate here on a work trip to K Falls in early February. We had a hard time finding anything open for dinner but noticed we were near a place called Dagwood's (which, for the youngsters, is the name of a comic strip that ran from 1930 to 1995 and featured a guy, Dagwood, who built ridiculously amazing sandwiches). We weren't necessarily out for a burger but we were hungry and nothing was open. So we went, got reeled in with "homemade bun" and placed our orders. Hubs got some big giant burger on the homemade bun. I probably got something along the lines of a bacon cheese burger, lettuce wrap style. And we got a large order of crinkle-cut fries (was not holding my breath on those fries as crinkly usually are a bit mushy). Got our order and headed outside to eat at one of their picnic tables. First bite -- ahmahzing! Second bite -- spectacular! Third -- whoah! And, you get the idea. Here it is two months later and hubs and I still talk about the now mythical place in K Falls where we got the most incredible burgers we've ever had. And those crinkly fries did it for me! Even though I've only been to K Falls once in my entire life, perhaps another reason to visit will present...
Read moreWe We're traveling thru and I always like to go to the local cafe's/burger joint as I have found they are more friendly ,more comfortable and food over all usually made with exceptional care. But this local burger joint wasn't what I expected at all .I called in a order for 2 bacon cheeseburgers with a home made bun. The bun basically was a smash of bread slapped on a greasy over melted patty. It was basically a mouth full of grease .I only could stomach a couple bites of this colossal mess of a bacon burger wait o yeah the bacon what bacon didn't even taste it well I guess the grease of it. Pricing wasn't that great either extra dollar for the smash of homemade bun I got the homemade bun thinking it would at least look like a bun . I guess I should have known better .The outside of the building was overgrown no parking and even the paint on the building itself looks as tho a child has started peeling it all over and faded . But, hey now I know and you know it's not...
