On July 22nd, while staying as Registered guests of Running Y Ranch in Klamath Falls, OR, members of our 18 person group went to their Restaurant Ruddy Duck, at approximately 8:30 pm to inform the restaurant we were interested in ordering food. Our group returned at approximately 9:20 pm to be seated. At this point, a different server informed us that the restaurant could not accommodate our group as it was too close to closing. When we argued that the previous server told us contradictory information and that we had no other dining alternative within 30 minutes of the hotel, they eventually acquiesced and our group was split into 2 tables. At this time, the restaurant was serving many tables and even seated another table after us. After 10:20 pm pm, our food was served to us in boxes and we were asked to pay for the food and leave the restaurant. There were still multiple other tables seated at the restaurant, including the table that was seated after us. This table, despite being seated after us, was served on plates and were never issued any warnings on time, etc. Additionally, the food served to us was cold and of poor quality. For example, a $21 shrimp scampi consisted of 4 small shrimp and less than a handful of pasta. This meal would be barely enough food to feed a young child, let alone an adult. When we raised our concerns, another server, Amy, started yelling out our group. As there was no restaurant or hotel manager on duty, the restaurant chef came out to talk to us, in which he told us that he was sorry for miscommunication, but there was no way could accommodate the size of our group, fix the food order, and serve us on plates. As we continued to complain he repeatedly stated “You can say whatever you want”. As we continued to complain, we asked to speak to his manager on the phone. We calmly explained the situation to Amber, who apologized for the situation, and said she would send the hotel manager to the restaurant to fix the situation since she lived too far away. Even the chef eventually agreed that this service was unacceptable. While we waited for the manager, we did not agree to pay for the bill as we were upset with the discrimination and poor quality of service. While waiting for the manager, a large dishwasher for our group from the kitchen came outside to confront our group for paying. He started physically getting close to them while speaking to them in a loud raised voice. He had to be restrained by other hotel staff. During this time, the staff said things such as “You should be happy we made you food” and “I’m not staying late for them!” Our children were exposed to this scene and many of them cried throughout the process. Eventually, the hotel general manager, Christy Mullinux, showed up to the restaurant. She is the highest ranking person in the hotel and her opening line was to rudely say “So I hear you guys don’t want to pay your bill?” We explained that wasn’t the case, and that we wanted to explain our situation/scenario to someone in senior management. She listened for a few minutes, but eventually also started to talk to us rudely and offensively. She never once apologized for what happened and simply asked for us to pay the restaurant and leave. When the police arrived, they told us they were responding to a trespassing violation. The general manager had apparently told them we weren’t guests at the hotel and were refusing to pay or leave. Eventually the sheriff’s discussed the situation with both parties and stated there was no crime. The logged the event with a case # that can be looked up later if needed. Additionally, our group took multiple minute videos of the situation demonstrating the extreme unprofessionalism of the hotel staff. Multiple times in the video while we are arguing you can other servers calmly and professionally deliver food to our guests of the hotel/restaurant.

This is the restaurant at the Wyndham Running Y village. It’s past the lobby and has a small bar, some inside seats, and more seating outside with heat lamps and lively view facing a creek. The wooden interiors are warm and inviting. There are two free electric vehicle charging right outside. The service staff are friendly and amicable. Kitchen staff are relatively slow - we waited 45min for our entrees. The salad came out about 30min from ordering. We got hungry and asked for bread rolls. The menu is extremely limited and varies. Don’t trust what you see on the photos here or on Yelp. The spinach salad we ordered didn’t have feta, so we asked them to add it and they obliged. There was a split plate charge to share. Vinaigrette was great. Bread rolls were warm and butter was whisked. Excellent. We ordered a vegetarian pasta and a salmon in orzo with capers. The pasta was underscored with more oil than cheese. The salmon was too salted but cooked well, a touch rare. Earlier, I ordered a mocha that was in a dark roast and was somewhat bitter with the taste of the chocolate too faint. I ordered another mocha the next day in the morning and it wasn’t much better. More of an inspired latte. Bill came to about $95 before tip for a mocha, Diet Coke, salad, bread rolls, and two entrees. For the time and money I’d go elsewhere next time. But this place will do in a pinch.

I am sorry to leave such a negative review, but I do this to save others from an expensive mistake. Friends wanted to treat us to a fine dining experience so they made reservations here after confirming they could accommodate a vegan. "Yes we can do anything" was the reply . Not so When our server approached, our host reminded her that her guest was vegan and that the chef had said he could do something special. "Yes, we can do anything' she brightly assured me. I said OK, welli would like the chicken piccatta with tofu substituted for the chicken. "Oh, we don't have tofu; we could leave off the chicken and the garlic mashed potatoes because they're made with butter". I said ok, what would you substitute? She just shrugged. I said, ok, let's make this easy--I will have the garden burger.

10 min later she informs me that they're out of garden burgers and what else would I like. I offered some suggestions which apparently couldn't be modified. Ok then, I will just have the house salad and a side plate of vegetables.

The 'house salad' turned out to be a side of salad, not a dinner salad. A few greens on a dessert plate, 4 slices of cucumber. And a cherry tomato. For $19 no less.my husband would be embarrassed to serve me a salad like that. It was paltry and very sad.

The side of veggies was 3 quarters of 1/3 of a zucchini (sliced like pickle spears). Imagine 1/3 of a zucchini, sliced like pickle spears, and then 3 quarter inch wide by 3 inches long. Really? It was the saddest vegetable "platter" I've ever seen and it was served in a dessert bowl.a bowl mind you.

It was a very disappointing 'meal' to be sure.i know our hosts feltbad for their guest to be served a child size bowl of greens. My husband, not a vegan, did order the chicken piccatta. As a carnivore, he was extremely disappointed, too. The chicken was mediocre at best. The bed of garlic mashed potatoes was cold, had no garlic, tasted old and like it was instant mashed potatoes. $22 for that.

The server offered us the wine list and couldn't answer any question about the wines. Not difficult questions either, more like "is this a sweet wine or dry".

From assuring me 'we can do anything" (which was clearly false) to not being knowledgeable about the food or wine, it was a disastrous dining experience. I was embarrassed for our hosts who were clearly embarrassed that a thoughtful gesture turned into a sad plate of greens for their guest.

The charcuterie board our hosts had ordered was pathetic. 2strawberries, dozen blueberries, a few slices of meat and cheese, and a few cubes of Flatbread. A really terrible, thoughtless presentation, esp for $24.

This was not a fine dining experience. I have had a better dinner at Carl's Jr with their vegan burgers and at a fraction of the price.

I will say that the outdoor patio was pretty with the forest flanking the golf course. But you can't eat a view.

I recommend simply having a drink on the patio (an easy one since they clearly don't know their beverages) and dine somewhere...

We were treated in a shockingly unprofessional manner. We had requested an outside table but were put in a dark corner inside upon arrival. The restaurant wasn’t busy so we moved the table over a foot to have a view. We told the waitress we’d move it back if they seated someone next to us. The waitress seemed to be under the influence and brought us the wrong bottle of sparkling wine FOUR times. After the third bottle we told her if you can’t find it we will just go with vodka to which she slurred that vodka is always a good idea. We finally accepted the last incorrect bottle after an hour wait as we were finished with our appetizers by the time it was brought over. A different young server came over and started setting the table next to us. We politely asked if she could seat people at one of their other open tables. We had already moved our table back to the original location and told her we had had a rough night at the restaurant. She snapped that we were making everything harder. I asked to speak to the manager and saw this young girl walk up to our waitress. Two of us put on masks and went up to speak to her as to not bother other diners. I went up to the young girl and tried to talk to her explaining that we were GUESTS at the restaurant and didn’t appreciate being treated and sassed that way. Our waitress, when asked if she was the manager, responded saying that she did a little of everything. At this point a blonde woman wearing no mask marched out of the back and screamed, “Don’t talk to my server that way. Get out!” I asked if she’d like to step to the side to discuss it but she continued screaming, “You’re not welcome in my restaurant. Get out”. As we were leaving another guest came up to the manager and touched her on the arm to offer support and the manager screamed louder at her to not touch her. The manager was raising her arms at this poor woman. We tried to take this issue to the side to discuss it quietly but she screamed in front of the entire restaurant. She yelled at us with absolutely NO context about what had happened. We were unbelievably embarrassed and completely shocked since we had endured such horrible service for an hour. Obviously the owner doesn’t care since we were not the only ones to experience such...
