This used to be my favorite restaurant and my husband and I would eat here most every week. I have hosted numerous business dinners here and always been pleased. The food historically was consistently good and the service amazing. Today was a different experience. I ordered my normal ale chicken and my husband got his beef brisket. After being seated for over 40 min, my husband walked around looking for our server. After she brought our drinks, she disappeared and never returned. He finally talked to the bar tender who checked on the food. The server came to the table with part of our order and an attitude. She said the kitchen was new and we needed to be patient. She said our sides were still in the oven and would be out later. I tasted my chicken and was so disappointed. After ordering this dish 15-20 times over the past year, it was covered in salt and inedible. I had to spit it out and so did my husband. When I asked to talk to the manager, she also had an attitude and said that her kitchen staff was new and maybe heavy handed. I asked her to please try it to confirm that this was extreme and not normal. In 48 years, I have never returned a dish to the kitchen. The manager refused to taste it. She said the ticket time was only 28 minutes for the chicken so I should be patient. She didnât even offer to replace the inedible dish. Also, I am sorry but I donât think 28 min times for an empty restaurant are reasonable. Maybe if the staff and manager were doing their jobs instead of hanging out in the back, ticket times, food quality and overall service would be better. If I ran my businesses like that, I would not have customers. As an owner, I never lodge complaints but this was such a horrible experience, I donât want others to feel like I did. I left the lowest tip that I ever have in my life but I hope the young server will realize that goofing off in the back and being rude to customers is not how you make money. I was a server in college and a 30% tipper. Todays 2% was to hopefully teach a lesson.
Long story but summary was rude staff including manager and an hour of waiting to get inedible food only to be demeaned and made to feel...
Read moreMy wife and I have been steady customers of this corner 16 location as well as other restaurants that is part of the same corporation including Calhouns and smoky Mountain brewery for many years. We chose this restaurant to celebrate my wifeâs 70 birthday, we had a party of 11 including children. My daughter-in-law made the reservations and had never been here before nor have her family. We thought this would be a great place to celebrate especially with having five kids so they can entertain and play outside. So they seated on inside right next to the kitchen, after we finished eating, and spent around $200. My wife had gone to the host and asked if we could move outside so we could watch the kids while we had a specialty birthday cake that my daughter in law brought and to have cocktails. The host said he had just started and didnât know but he would ask the other hostess. She said she would have to ask the manager if we could do this, he told her that he was busy and it would come talk to us in a few minutes. When he finally did come out, He really did not like the idea they were going to be sitting outside after already having dinner, even though there was not a wait line, and there were several empty tables on the outside dining section. He finally said that we could sit outside, but not under the roof, he was very cold and not at all friendly since he did not like this idea and good see and feel his terrible attitude. ( I wish my wife would of asked what his name was) As regular customers, my wife and I usually sit at the bar about once a month, as a matter fact we speak with Mike Chase quite often thatâs usually there. I wish he wouldâve been here last night and I hope that he reads this. I can assure you that we will never be back to this location again as well as my daughter-in-law and her husband and family will do the same and I wonât recommend anyone to dine at this location. This was very unprofessional and not about service. I could understand if there was a waiting line and it was busy. I could totally get that but unfortunately it wasnât and this was not handled like it shouldâve been. Terrible...
Read moreLet me say this up front, our server was AWESOME!!! Twelve of us, and nobody wanted for anything, she was on top of everything. WOW!!! What a first experience at Corner 16!!! We called about 5 or 6 hours ahead of time, and actually talked to the manager (Wes) to make reservations for a large group at 7 or 7:30. He and I just decided to split it down the middle, and make it for 7:15. Told him to expect 12 or 13, but we might only end up with 10, so just make it for 12, if we have to add a chair, no big deal. So my niece and others get there, she goes and checks in, they carry them in the back and sat them at a round table that might comfortably seat 5, maybe 6 (they had 8 chairs around this table) and a booth. The booth wasn't even next to the table, it was over behind the table. NO!!! We called, made reservations, waaaaaaay ahead of time for a reason. We came to have a family gathering, not have family scattered all over. So, my wife goes and finds Wes (he agreed that the reservation was for 12) finally they move us to a bigger table (then, we, not Corner 16, added another table because they had us packed in, like sardines in a can, again). Then it gets better. Everybody's food came out, one or two plates at a time. Everyone had cold food or barely warm. So, they redo almost all the food (the three that had barely warm, ate their's). After everything was said and done (Wes had left) one of the other mangers decided they would offer us a choice of there three desserts they had available. REALLY??? Twelve people, at least $350 worth of food and drinks, three desserts for 12 to split is the best they could do. Didn't even offer a discount for all there mistakes. WHAT A JOKE!!!!!! If negative stars were available, that's what they would've...
