Night manager was very rude, hostile due to our concerns of paying it up charge for their set menu that does not respect other peoples religion or just believes I felt like we were discriminated because we do not eat pork which was put in the dish that they offer for you not to pay it up charge for the manager told me that wasn’t discrimination and that it is their restaurant and they do not have to accommodate anyone due to their religious beliefs. Now, if you ate pork, you don’t have to pay an up charge but because we do not eat pork, we are subject to pay an up charge, which she was completely once again, rude and insensitive to other peoples, beliefs and religion, and she yelled across the restaurant stating that it is their restaurant and they can do whatever they want to do she was already hostile before coming to the table, rolling her eyes mumbling …. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone whom personal or religious believes prohibits them from eating pork. This restaurant is unwilling to negotiate and be sensitive to personal and religion beliefs other restaurants in Knoxville, Tennessee, are sensitive and completely understand someone’s religious belief, but this restaurant here chooses to discriminate ……. now I would say the waitress was completely sensitive and understood but the night manager was not sensitive in this restaurant doesn’t deserve any stars for their discrimination. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..No I will not take my review down just received a message on here from the manager or whomever and you do serve pork in your side dishes like your baked beans have pork in it and your green beans have pork in it so you are and is serving pork. and had you read it correctly you would have seen exactly what it was that I was talking about your baked beans, your green beans. Has pork in it. There are other ways of seasoning your dish without using pork try smoke turkey taste just great and seasons your food better, and it also helps your establishment further discrimination against peoples religion and beliefs of not eating pork …. So please, let’s try reading next time instead of being sarcastic. And take that initiative of understanding people’s religious beliefs, and the fact that your establishment your night manager, discriminated and repeatedly said that she was not discriminating try educating her on what it means to be discriminated because she obviously does not know what the word means as she stood there, hitting the table yelling it is not discrimination and this is our restaurant and we can do whatever we want. And No, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who does not accommodate people religious believes, and simply just beliefs of not consuming pork and forcing them to pay an up charge because we choose not to eat your set. Bake beans menu loaded full of pork. And your unwillingness to accommodate people who doesn’t want to consume your pork dish and forcing them to pay an up charge for not wanting to consume your pork dish but it is obvious that you don’t know what you have on your menu. It’s not just chicken (note) as you said Gus‘s chicken you serve other meat in that restaurant maybe you should read the ingredients that you put in your side dishes….. so this review...
Read moreWe’ve been eating hair for probably about 12 years and we absolutely love it but I think today was the last day we will eat . We were leaving West Town mall and decided to pick up Gus’s on the way home( Strawberry plains exit). Todd call in the order asking for kid meal 2 piece chicken and add a catfish and drum to order. Once we arrived, he picked up the food. Once got on the highway, I couldn’t wait any longer and wanted the delicious food. I opened the styrofoam box and started eating my chicken. In the Styrofoam box, it had two pieces of chicken and french fries with honey, mustard, and tartar sauce. Once I got done eating the chicken. I’ve reached in to get my catfish out of the brown bag that was in there with the drum. After pulling it out, I realized it was another piece of chicken that my catfish was not in there. I asked my husband if we should call back again and we were debate on if we should or shouldn’t because we were not turning around. We called back in and just asked him if they forgot to put our catfish in and the girl said yes. Well within seconds lighter this other girl called and said we might want to check the bag again because he swears up and down that he put a catfish in there and this is where we knew going back back-and-forth wasn’t worth it. I told my husband, he should’ve checked the bag before he left. The first girl said she would mail us a gift card of what the catfish would cost, but since the second girl called us, it was basically calling us a liar. I don’t want the gift card and in fact, I don’t think I wanna come back anymore because I thought that was very rude and disrespectful.. I mean, why would I call back in and say they didn’t put my one catfish in there? Thank you to the second lady that called us because your attitude is the reason why we decided not to come back anymore so don’t worry about sending us a gift card for the catfish because we...
Read more06-28-2022 today I and my wife Karen, went to Gus's for the 1st. time , will not be our last ... We arrived before opening time, there were others there also waiting for the doors to open, when 11:00 arrived we went inside and were greeted with a big Hello ! Sat down at a table of our choosing and quickly got our drink orders from a most friendly waitress, (I'm bad at remembering names) we looked over the menu and decided to get the 2 piece chicken dinners, with 2 sides, and a half and half tea for both of us . Our hostess inform us that the chicken was spicy hit, that's the only way it comes . Sounded good to me . When our plates came out, every item was steaming hot, (heat wise), first I tried my macaroni & cheese, it was really good, next I tasted the creamy thin grated coleslaw, hit the spot, then came the chicken wing, my, my, best I've had in years, the outside was Crispy and the cayenne coating was smooth, it was a slow warm heat, beneath that was the tender, moist meat, it was "chicken candy" ... Karen, had ordered collard greens as one of her sides, after her 1st. bite, she told me, "these are really so good" she offered me a bite, Those were like a Sunday dinner type of greens ... also we ordered a side of fried green tomatoes, They had a thin crunchy coating, the green tomatoe was just right, the dipping sauce was not overpower the taste of the tomatoes, The half sweet tea/ half unsweetened tea was refreshing... We became aware of Gus's on utube this past weekend, the place is very clean, the atmosphere is casual, the service is great , the food is as advertised, yes, we will be returning. Thanks to those who greeted, and served us, thanks to those who prepared the...
