Long Island native here. Been wanting to try this place for a couple years driving past that billboard. Well, finally got the chance.
All in all- I’ll just wait until I got back to LI each year. If it was cheaper I’d return. But not worth the hole in the wallet. Probably shouldve got a small spot in a shopping center and saved money on the property to get back the ambiance, service, and affordability of a NY pizzeria. But good job on all of the advertising, Jaboni. Ya got my hopes up enough for me to drop in and not completely disappoint. Oh, and they give discounts for vets and first responders.
Got pepperoni pie, garlic knots, kids mozz meal, and cannolis. Service: got takeout. Missed some side sauce on my order, they don’t give paper plates with your pie like LI pizzerias do, and make sure you get a plastic bag for the garlic knots. Glad I asked for one. Oil leaked everywhere. People were nice but don’t expect the speed and presence of a NY’er. Ambiance is like a chain restaurant and nothing like a NY small biz pizzeria. Kinda dull.
Pizza-decent. Closest I’ve had since living in FL and VA and now TN. Sauce too acidic, peppery, and salty. Dough not much flavor or fluff but better than Dominos. Gotta be a good mix of crisp and thin layer and of fluffiness and this one a little more on the hard side. They only sell one size pie and that’s it. No slices. Pricey. Cheese, eh, ok. Wasn’t as gooey. Guessing ingredients were kinda cheap to get this quality. Knots- nice and fluffy and a decent medium size. Again cheap ingredients. Garlic was cheap and over-layered, too much oil lathered, but like the pizza, again, closest I’ve had since moving from NY. Kids mozz sticks- atrocious. Sticks had zero flavor in breading and not gooey. Better off with frozen kind. Fries were pale and soggy. And someone said prego was better than their marinara sauce: 💯 agree! It’s GARBAGE!!!! Pepper probably used to mask the terrible taste for this and the pizza. GAG Cannoli, good! Wayyyy overpriced. Was told their size was worth $5-6/piece. Yea, showing you the pic bc it’s def a regular size. Better off going to Publix for cheaper ones even though Publix isn’t as...
Read moreBeen waiting for this place to open for a long time. Not many New York style pizza places in Knoxville. Especially since Wiseguys closed. We knew they had been having issues hiring as all of America is having and had read some reviews about wait times etc. We’d heard great things about the pizza though and so we decided to try it out on a Friday night. Eating out in Knoxville on a Friday night always seems to entail large crowds and long waits. Sometimes you just have to go elsewhere to eat. So we went in to this in no rush. After all it’s date night and I like hanging out with my wife. So we go at dinner time and surprisingly got seated right away. The place is huge and quite nice inside. I was surprised at how many empty tables there were on a Friday night. The place is so big though and it still had a lot of people inside. We were greeted quickly and got our order in after just a few minutes. While we waited an older gentleman came by twice and gave us free slices of pizza. Our waiter kept us in the loop regularly that the pizza was behind but we were in no rush so it was fine. Our pizza came out after about an hour and it was amazing. As we’re the free slices we’d gotten while we waited. All in we were there about an hour and a half and left full and had a ton of leftovers to take home for our kids. The only reason this is not 5 stars is the wait time. If you here be patient. If you’re in a rush maybe choose another place. Good luck getting in anywhere good in Knoxville on a Friday night though. Once this place gets a good staff which is a challenge for most small businesses these days it’s going to a great pizza place. If you want NYC style pizza in Knoxville...
Read moreBeing an Italian from LI, NY and impossible to find any decent pizza or italian restaurants in Knoxville, we gave this place a shot. I have to admit, we were over the moon when we got a regular pie because it was like we were back home in NY. Not sure if it was just a good night or if they have different cooks but tonight we got a Sicilian pie and what a disappointment. It had the same nasty sauce that we've had at other pizza places here. I hate to say it but the sauce tasted like Marco's pizza. Way too salty and the pie was so loaded with this nasty sauce that it was a giant soggy mess. Not sure who cooked this but NEVER again. The crust was gummy, soggy and flat. If only we had Umbertos here. They have one of the best sicilian pies with a light airy dough with just the right amount of sauce (pizza sauce....not week old pasta sauce). I'm not sure what this was but it was a waste of $20+! Unfortunately, we had to toss it in the trash. I still can't get the taste and salt out of my mouth. The only reason I gave them three stars is because the regular pie we got was very good. So, just a heads up....don't even bother with their Sicilian pie. It's just NASTY. Not sure if we'll give them another shot but if we do, it won't be...
