Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about each dish that we asked about. Our server made a couple of suggestions for appetizers and entrees. We were torn between two of the appetizers and our server suggested the Mini Chimis, so we went with his suggestion.
He then left and came back with our drinks. After he served us our drinks we were ready to order our entrees.
Our server was gone for no more than 3 and 1/2 or 4 minutes with our entrees. When he was putting all the dishes down on the table next to us in preparation to serve us we questioned the appetizer that we ordered. He was confused and thought that we decided against the appetizer even though we had only ordered the appetizer less than 5 minutes ago and we were baffled because he was the one that suggested it. So we decided against the appetizer since our entrees were already there.
I had the Enchiladas Suizas which came with Mexican rice. I also ordered a side of beans and cheese to go with the rice. The beans and cheese were cold and really stuck together as if they had been sitting out for a while. The enchiladas were also less than warm to the touch and one of them was cold. The seasoning and filling of the enchiladas was pretty good!
My friend ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas. The fajita mixture came out on one of those black skillets that are typically sizzling because that's what they were cooked in but they were definitely not cooked in this because the plate wasn't hot at all. It was simply for presentation which was kind of a bummer. My friend also said that the fajita mixture was mostly bland.
It's typical for a Mexican restaurant to deliver food pretty quickly but in my opinion if you can deliver entrees out in less than 5 minutes... Then you probably shouldn't unless your business model is fast food. The service was good, The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. But we definitely won't be back because the food is...
Read moreI’m really shocked at all the positive reviews. My experience was not similar. Ordered the Carne Asada, 2 tamales, and a house special. Carne Asada was overcooked, low quality, and had zero flavor. The refried beans tasted like they were from a can & the rice was just okay. The tamales I ordered were so bad I had to send them back. The salsa and red sauce that was on a few items all tasted incredibly acidic and had a very dark red color. Assuming the tomatoes came from a can as well. We did order a few specialty items from their Venezuelan menu and the items were pretty good. Atmosphere is alright. My partner and I both felt the food was lackluster, thrown together on the plate and did not use fresh ingredients. I’m thankful for the server who removed the tamales from the bill as I only took 1 bite and could not finish. We both left the uneaten food and I noticed several other patrons leaving their leftovers as well. A family even came in while we were eating and were being seated and changed their mind and left. We will not be back. A total...
Read moreWhere to start on this one. Nice place but it deserves a better chef. While on business in Knoxville I had a craving for Fajitas. After a lot of googling I found this place that had quite good reviews. Now I cannot begin to understand how that can be. I might have been spoiled by amazing TexMex in Houston but what I had for dinner tonight was far from good. Starting with the margarita that must have been made with the cheapest Tequila out there. A nice flavour of kerosene finishing off each zip..
The guacamole was OK. The salsa tastes like there was ketchup in it. The beef in the fajitas seemed more boiled than pan fried/grilled, was over cooked, dry and completely flavourless. The peppers and onions also seemed boiled, where overcooked and mushy. The tortilla was the generic, prefab, bought crap that tastes like card board.
How this place can get 4 and above in ratings I cannot begin to understand. With the $50 bill, Taco Bell seems like a better option in all honesty. And I hate Taco...
