Pelican's SnoBalls — Restaurant in Knoxville

2019: When I noticed they had opened for the season I not only got a huge shaved ice, I bought 25 pelican bucks for 20$. I was super excited to start getting a great treat that were essentially sugar free. Today I went to buy a regular stuffed to go. The first thing I noticed was that when you order to go, you don't get your original size put in a size up cup anymore. They just flatten out the size you order, and you miss out on the product they pile on top for someone who didn't order to go. Also, pricing is now XX.50 (this becomes important later). Then, when I went to pay for my drink with Pelican bucks, I was informed that they don't give change back with the tokens. Today, not having any additional change and thinking it ridiculous to charge $.50 to my credit card, I paid 5 "bucks" for a drink that was $4.50 to customers paying cash.

I have two choices now that I have a load of pelican bucks to use. Pay 5 pelican bucks for something that's 4.50$ (essentially overpay), or keep quarters in my car to pay the leftover change.

Either way is an inconvenience to me. I'm going to keep some quarters hidden in my car just to use with my pelican bucks, and when I'm out, I think I'll be finding another place to get my treats.

We went there today, we were not greeted, there were three employees standing at the window, one texting a young man that had just ordered, the other two looking out the window and trying to talk to the young man who ordered previously standing behind my family. Once we had stood there approximately 5 mins with all three seeing us, they asked my order, I gave the first flavor and the young lady walked away from me saying nothing to return a couple minutes later. I’ve gotta say, one of my best memories in a while has got to be coming to Pelicans. My friends and I were looking for a hangout spot after church and THIS IS IT. It is just a great place overall. I even got two things while I was there haha. I started out with the strawberry lemonade flavor. After that I went back for blue raspberry. It’s really good!! They have over 100 flavors I think and good variety too. Very family friendly atmosphere and the employee who served us was super nice and friendly.
