I ordered the orange chicken, something I was really excited. I decided to trade out the fried rice for the lo mein noodles and ordered a side of egg rolls. My girlfriend settled for hibachi chicken with fried rice and an order of egg drop soup for some extra warmth.
What we got was a little different than what we ordered. The orange chicken was fried chicken coated in what I can only describe as being the Asian equivalent to an entire jar of orange marmalade. There was so much of this sugary gel covering the dish that the noodles had absorbed it and become wet and sticky. Pushing aside the main dish, I decided to try the egg rolls I had ordered. I wasn't sure if I was biting into a microwaved cigar or a piece of fire seared crust stuffed with cabbage; there was only a "burnt" taste.
My girlfriend's food was very similar, overly sweet chicken. The main difference was that the fried rice tasted like rice that had been stored in a moldy basement for the past 6 months.
Despite the poor excuse for "fire seared Asian", the staff was very friendly, and was about the only redeeming quality besides the relaxed modern feel of the building. Lots of potential here to turn this establishment into a place that sells anything other than Asian food.
P.S. Please allow customers to pay after their meal and eliminate the pay-up-front setup, the majority of customers now days don't carry cash, and I had no idea I was supposed to tip at this establishment until I saw the very kind employee bringing out our food and taking our dirty dishes back to...
Read moreI ordered a Pad Thai, with no chicken and no egg and I asked for more vegetables since I'm a vegan. I also asked why the Pad Thai was listed as being not gluten free and was told it was because of the sauce and so they would use a gluten free sauce since I am gluten intolerant. My order was put in as "No meat" (see pictures) and there is no indication of extra vegetables or a different sauce. I just hope I don't have an allergic reaction.
Intuition told me to check my order in the car and it's a good thing I did. It turned out I did not have any tofu which is a normal ingredient in the dish not an additional one.
I went inside to explain that I was missing the tofu and the person who originally took my order avoided me, did not apologize or communicate to their manager what I had originally ordered. I was told that the tofu included was just a garnish and that because the note on the order said "no meat" that meant no tofu. I have been a vegan for almost 15 years and I was unaware that tofu constituted as being meat.
Anyway, I wait for the new order containing tofu to be made which was not necessary because I just needed a handful of tofu. I do not check this second order until I get home and thank goodness I did not toss the original order because the second order contains what looks like chicken or egg which I do not eat.
There is a clear lack of communication and accountability at play in this restaurant. However, I suppose it's my own fault for being disloyal to Chaiyos which is the best Thai restaurant...

I found WokChow 1 yr ago on Find Me Gluten Free web site. I have biopsy proven Celiac and was looking for a more affordable place than PF Chang. WokChow was great for about 9 months and I have driven 40+ miles from home just to eat here because I didn't get sick from ingesting gluten. However, my last 3 visits I did get very sick from gluten and not only that the food was poorly prepared. The steamed rice was not fresh the flavor of lettuce wraps was bland and the spicy wokchow chicken was not good. Yesterday was my last visit.
There has been a turn over in staff, I spoke with the young and professional acting young man that took my order about getting sick during my meal from gluten. He then turned my complaint over to young blond with long hair that was acting like she was management. She advised me that she could tell by looking at my food that it was gluten free.
I ask for a refund on an order I placed to go because I will not be able to eat for at least 3 days because of my immune response from what I injested at WokChow. The turnover in management and cooks has really hurt Wok Chow as they have permanently...
