I had just delivered my last restaurant order and decided I would try a Papa John's Pizza with my meager earnings. I drove to the restaurant knowing I'd have to pick it up anyway so I might as well just order there and wait out in the cold or in my car.
I had to park a short distance across the parking lot and approached the store front on foot. Noticing that the maximum number of patrons were already occupying the waiting area I attempted to read the menu board from outside. Everything I wanted to know was prominently displayed except for the pricing. Feeling quite vexed by the sign, I walked back to my car to check prices on their app and to place an order. The time was now 9:30.
Googling "Papa John's menu"was easy enough. Using Papa John's app proved more vexing than the menu signs that withheld pricing. Unbeknownst to me, the window for ordering a pizza during tonight's closing shift was rapidly closing on itself.
The Papa John's app seemed straight forward, but again the pricing was obscure even though I chose the local menu option for my location. I had to select crust, then sauce, then baking thoroughness in a vertical downward progression leaving me near the bottom of a "page" now filled with small don't disclaimer and membership advantage information but no longer looking like an order sheet. In the process of trying to scroll up, I inadvertantly selected something about signing up for a Papa John's membership for returning customers but I hadn't even become a first time customer. Finding my way back to the order screen I saw that I had an order in a cart. Great! Let's open it and finish my pizza toppings. I selected my cart and proceeded to edit my pizza. I then noticed the page layout was actually 3 vertical columns crust and such in first column, cheese in second one, and eats and veggies in third (based on my recollection). So I carefully followed the trail of options down cheese columb, then up to meats & veggies to come down again. Ah, now to pay and wait. But alas, bad I quickly reviewed my pizza, I saw that my BBQ sauce base now read Buffalo. I had to edit again. Quickly editing and resaving my order I did not notice 10 minutes had elapsed.
Following the order edit I tried quickly to move to payment. Oh, the price was previously discovered in the cart and the small BBQ pizza with chicken, bell peppers and onions would be $15, a stiff price for a person in my current pre-divorced and underemployed category. Yet I continued to plug in credit card information with the assistance of my Google assistant. As I finished populating name, card info, and then billing address, I looked for a process order icon. That's when I saw that the store had closed at 9:40 and Papa John's would be happy to resubmit my order the following business day. Yelling several expletives should have been heard by the pizza makers slipping out the store and into the darkness, I grabbed my phone and opened my contacts. By the time I reached Pizza King on S LaFountain, my small BBQ and pepperoni pizza was as ready for me as I was for it. Happily adding $2 tip to my $8 pizza, I raced home and devoured the whole pie. I can't say anything good or bad about Papa John's pizza, but their app gets the raspberry. Oh, and Pizza King has no app. They have a phone number. I keep it on hand in my phone contacts where I...
Read moreI can’t speak for the food rather the ordering process is awful. Tried placing an order on line but but I couldn’t because the store was closed (I wanted to pick it up at 11 or 11:15 (store opens at 10). I waited until after 10 to place my order and it won’t take my cc saying my address was wrong yet there was no place to enter my address so how could it be wrong. After screwing around with that for 30 mins I called to place my order, sadly the ladies English was so poor I couldn’t understand but half of what she was saying. Then to finish she told me that due to the size of my order I couldn’t pick it up at 11:15 but rather 11:30 (I buying the lunch for a meeting at my office….. which starts at 11:30!). Overall this will be my last purchase at this...
Read moreI am very upset with the way the phone is answered ... The person who answered the phone for me sounded monotone... I explained that I could not understand what he was saying to me and he hung up on me!!! I immediately called back. I asked him why did he hang up on me he tried to act like it was not him but it was definitely the same voice and the likelihood of somebody picking up the phone that sounds exactly like him less than 30 seconds after the hangup is probably rare... then he proceeds to say anyways what can I get for you .... this is very rude and I will not be ordering from Papa John’s ever again!!!! I as an adult should No ever have to put up with other adults that proceed to act like a child this is a business and it should be ran...
