'La Cave' is, in my opinion, the most unique and interesting bar or speakeasy in La Crosse. Definitely a place to bring your family and friends to give them an incomparable experience. My husband and I have visited a few times now, and most recently we brought a friend. I tried the "Chloris" off of the cocktail menu, my husband tried the "Zeus" and our friend had the "Fume Old Fashioned." They both preferred the Chloris over their own drinks 🤌🏻 I recommend the artisan sausage platter; the bison skewers were a tougher meat, but still flavorful. I tried the escargot, which I learned I do not enjoy, but our friend absolutely loved them and gave his compliments to the chef. The only downside to this visit was that one female bartender that intitially served us seemed either extremely unhappy to be there or did not care to treat us with a warmly. The attitude was palpable and we uncomfortably caught her glaring at us from across the bar a few times. The other two bartenders were very kind, made great conversation, helped us with the menu and made us...
Read moreLa Cave serves the area’s best craft cocktails in a unique and inviting environment. Each time I descend the spiral staircase I feel like I am stepping into a speakeasy, and I know I am in store for something special.
The bartenders are very friendly, knowledgeable, and masterfully create each drink with precision and care. The seasonally changing cocktail menu is one of the most extensive I have seen, containing everything from classic cocktails, barrel aged and smoked cocktails, to many of their own excellent specialty creations. And if that isn't enough, you can always go with the Bartender's Choice where they will create something personally just for you.
The appetizers and desserts (from the French restaurant Le Chateau upstairs) are wonderful, and the imported wine and beer lists make sure there is something for everyone.

Read moreWent to grab a quick drink shortly after open on a Friday and was rather disappointed. Bartender was not hospitable and was more interested in straining some tapioca looking things than getting our orders. My partner said she was hoping for something not too sweet and bartender stated that none of them are really sweet because the dessert menu has the sweet drinks. She got a toy soldier and what do you know it was pretty sweet.
There were only 4 people in the bar and the bartender took almost 10 minutes to even start making our drinks after ordering, slowly doing other prep work instead. Head bartender and bar manager seemed to be indirectly trying to hurry him up but it didn't help.
Poor service and somewhat awkward atmosphere for just okay drinks. Will definitely be going somewhere else for a quick drink...
