Mamacita's International Grill — Restaurant in La Grande

My husband and I were traveling back to MN after spending a few weeks camping in Washington. We stopped for the night in La Grande and decided to walk to Mamacita's for dinner. It had snowed pretty heavily and we just wanted a relaxing evening after a pretty rough day of driving. We were immediately greeted by an amazing server who sat us at a very comfy booth. I wish I knew her name because honestly she was one of the best servers that I've had! Very friendly, helpful and professional! I've worked every aspect of the restaurant industry for over 40 years and let me tell you, this place has a great staff! (Upon looking around when we first got there I immediately noticed the poster of Christopher Walken on the cooler and completely lost it 🤣) I had Chicken Carbonara which was AMAZING and my husband had the Waygu Bleu burger, also to die for! We finished off with the Marionberry cheesecake, incredible! I've dreamt about this meal for the past five months or so. I'm bugging my husband for another road trip soon so we can visit again! Very disappointed with my recent lunch visit. Got there at noon and they were fairly busy, about 4 tables full. We waited by the door to be seated and we were just looked at by the waiters walking by. After some time we were seated in the back most corner of the restaurant which was fine. I ordered the Philly Style N.Y. with fries and a side of au jus. The other two orders for my party were the kids hamburger and cheeseburger with fries. Took over 40 minutes to get our food and when it arrived they had given me the wrong order. The waiter did fix it for me and also discounted $4 for the meal which was appreciated. Sandwich was NOT worth $20 though. It came with a handful of fries and the bread for the sandwich was so hard and tough to bite through you had to soak it in the au jus just to be able to bite through. Steak was nothing special. The hamburger and cheeseburger came with no condiments or vegetable toppings. Just bread and meat. Very plain and dry. Maybe it was just a bad day but I used to love going to lunch...

Honestly me and my family have been to this place for many years and after not coming for quite a while we decided to come in and never have been more dissatisfied. When getting there our waitress was not friendly and seemed very irritated we showed up with our group. While getting settled and our order taken we had to ask for every refill never being asked to refill them themselves or having to ask a different waitress because ours was on their phone. When getting our food the waitress forgot one of our plates and once we mentioned it she said “we lost it” already waiting for an hour for our food and having to wait longer for our last plate. After our meals were finally set we weren’t checked on and had to ask for every single thing we had needed. After we were done with our meal we had an 18% tip which we were not informed we would have to pay and after letting them know how our time was they still made us pay for a tip not deserved.
