Subway — Restaurant in La Grande

I stopped in for a quick bite and was initially impressed that my sandwich was ready in less than five minutes. Unfortunately, the card reader was down due to internet issues, which I wasn’t told until after I placed my order. The employee seemed unsure how to handle the situation and repeatedly said she didn’t know what to do, rather than taking initiative. I suggested she contact her manager, who eventually offered to cover the ATM fee, which I appreciated.

However, the lack of communication and problem-solving turned what should have been a 5-minute stop into a 30-minute ordeal. A simple heads-up about the card machine issue up front would have helped me make a different choice. I hope the team gets better support and training for handling these kinds of hiccups...

Disappointed! This used to be a favorite stop as we traveled through the area before the pandemic. First, the bathrooms were trashed. I’ve seen better rest area bathrooms. The staff seemed tired (aren’t we all with a full day of travel) and gave curt answers to my questions. My husband heard them to say they were short staffed. I was really surprised to find a notice taped at the start that they no longer accept paper coupons or electronic ones through the app. You know, the emails with which we are all bombarded touting one special or another. And since that is my main reason to use Subway, I won’t stop here again. They did repeatedly refer me to the other Subway nearby that accepts coupons and special deals, so I guess they deserve...

Told the staff about my allergies and they had to be asked to change their gloves and get a different knife to prevent cross contamination. Even with being told twice, staff changed a singlur gloves or didn't change the used knife and proceeded to make the sandwitch despite my reservations. This isn't the only time this has happened, but each time was different staff and the location was convenient so I gave the place the benefit of the doubt. And each time I am disappointed.
