Went to this place ready to do a review Monday Dec 26th. Took a picture of the outside at 8:07 AM for the "outside" pic of the restaurant.
The host sat me down in the back corner of the restaurant that was not busy at all. I did notice in this "corner" of the restaurant was another similar colored skinned couple in this corner right beside where they seated me. I felt it was strange in such an empty restaurant why they would stuff me in this corner which is blocked off by a planter...
All other customers were fair skinned and along the window and inside of the restaurant.
It took a wile for me to get waited on, and they walked near my corner several times. I finally got to order.
Meanwhile a light colored skinned gentleman walked in and got seated right outside my corner; He didn't get seated in a corner although there were other corners available. He then was waited on promptly and ordered before me. He then received his breakfast before me.
I waited and waited, no one came around. Finally another waitress (who wasn't my waitress), asked if I needed help. The restaurant was not busy mind you. I told her I was waiting over 40 min for my breakfast. She then went to go check on what was going on with my order. She never returned after 3 minutes.
I walked out 8:45 AM.
At 8:48 AM I then called Arthurs from my car to speak to the manager. To which none was on duty, and said I could call back Wednesday, (two days later) to talk to "Katie". The girl asked for my name and number, to which I left which she said someone would call me. Nobody every called and now it was Thursday.....
I have this all timestamped in my phone with the pics and the phone call.
This may not be reflective of the owners of this establishment, but of a few individual workers that are put in front to service the customers, the "faces of the business" needs to be...
Read moreBeen there twice now because of meeting different friends there. Both times my friends heard rave reviews about Arthur's from other friends of theirs. Both times after eating there, we agreed to never go there again. Service staff are polite and good peeps but the food is lacking in every aspect. My wife and I tried different items each time hoping for the best. Both times, Arthur's fell short of our expectations. Atmosphere is good as well if you like the old diner feel, which we do like. The first time, I had The Big Sampler breakfast it looked really good but they messed up my eggs and the pancake was dry. This time I had their corn beef and hash. Again, they cooked my eggs too hard when I like my eggs over medium. My friend asked for hers over easy and her eggs were hard. I think that's all their cook knows how to cook eggs. My biscuit was rubbery and cold and so was my gravy, Cold and Chunky. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals, okay okay, every meal is my favorite meal. I love food ☺️ and to eat food...yum 🤤 I will not go back again. I like the La Habra Heights Cafe on Whittier Blvd, 2461 Whittier Blvd, La Habra, if you are looking for a good breakfast sit down place. Better breakfast than Arthur's...
Read moreFirst, the portions are big. The eggs Benedict are more cowboy eggs Benedict with a half pound ham steak over English muffins topped with 3 poached eggs slathered in hollandaise sauce. Don't get me wrong, it was a delicious interpretation of a classic, but a bit heavy for my taste. Was it worth $12.00+? Sure. Eggs Benedict is usually about $9.00-$10.00 so given the portion size, it's about right.
Now, the corned beef hash is something entirely different. They actually use real corned beef that is finely chopped. No canned meat here. That being said, I was rather disappointed with all that freshness, the flavor was rather bland. A touch more salt would have made a big difference. Also, the hash came with potatoes so that's really a lot of potatoes. The eggs, which were supposed to be over easy, were over hard. The side of French toast was delicious, albeit cold. Was this worth $12.00+? No, not really.
So, the verdict is...definitely worth trying, but not to go. Bring a hearty appetite and don't expect classical interpretations of standard breakfast fare. Is it the best breakfast in...
