Cask and Hammer is my new favorite bar. From the outside it looks closed like maybe it recently went out of business but the joint is still hopping on the inside. The music seemed ideally targeted toward kids born between 1977 and 1980 that were into rock growing up and the demographics of the clientele seemed to match the music. I am not sure if that is the case every night but it worked out well for me and my friend because we are children of '80 and grew up listening to rock.
I ask the bar tender for something they don't usually have on tap and was told that every day they have a completely new selection of beers on tap. My friend and I were admittedly the worst type of customers this evening having no idea what beers to order but I imagine that is pretty typical at a bar that changes its entire beer selection every day. The bar keep was friendly and understanding and after a bit of a discussion she recommended the Patsy by Barley Forge for me and an IPA for my friend.
The Patsy was amazing. I allowed my friend a taste and he kept taking additional tastes while we played a giant game of connect four. I think I was distracted by how good the Patsy tasted because I lost every round. After playing giant connect four we ordered another Patsy to share and moved on to pool.
After equalizing the playing field by official sharing the Patsy I was able to sweep the series of three pool games we played though each game was close.
We settled up and headed out after pool. It is probably a good thing this bar is not near my neighborhood or I might...
Read moreLocal dive bar meets taproom. Cask and Hammer is a craft beer Taproom but they do have ultra on draft and Pacifico. Modelo bottles too but I think those are for the Micheladas mostly. —Service Notes at the end— About 30 craft beers on draft more on the IPA and seltzer side. Beers Always rotate so every few weeks it’s different. The house beers stay the same such as the blonde and red ale. It is a small location but adequate with bar seating and high tables along the wall. Pool table in the back and patio with a few picnic tables. Nice design for a taproom and not a standard dive design. Chalkboard menu for the beers is huge and sets the tone. They do sell bar eats they heat up in those toaster ovens. They have always had a cocktail menu buts its wine/soju based since this place owns a BEER AND WINE license. Service: as a local I’ve been coming here on and off for years. In the beginning it felt like a taproom however a lot of my peers have mentioned it is starting to feel more like a dive than anything. Service is fine for any bar where you just want a beer. As far as recommendations go on what to drink, not...
Read moreLove this place, usually the local go to place to get some great craft beers. Love all the beertenders that run this place but got a weird vibe from this one asian girl with glasses, everytime my buddy and I would order a drink she seemed so frustrated with us that we order more. Especially when I wanted to get a flight to start, because they have so many great beers, she made it seem like a hassle that she had to clean the taster glasses for the flight. 😑 Maybe she was having a bad night or if it was because she was by herself in a busy bar, but it seems to be this way everytime we are served by her. Much love to the original Cask and Hammer crew and no matter what I'll be back to have...
