Wonderful food and service, terrifying owner. I used to frequent this place at least a few times a week, Ms. Caroline is an absolute delight and deserves a raise. The owner, however, is a mean old nag. He pretends to be best friends with everyone. One day, my to-go order of biscuits and gravy had sugar in the gravy. I was already on my way to work and could not replace it. I called the staff, let them know, and the cook admitted they added sugar instead of salt in the gravy by accident, and said to just let them know the next time I came back and they would "take care of me." I was just expecting maybe a $5 discount, or something comparable to the cost of ruined biscuits.

I showed up next week with my boyfriend, and we had a delightful lunch. I went to pay and very politely mentioned to the owner about the sugar gravy incident and how we were told that they would take care of us on our next visit. His kind eyes turned to a vicious glare and he practically yelled at us: "So WHAT?! You guys want this for free, is that it?! FINE," he said as he angrily typed in commands at the register and wiped off our tab, even as I tried to tell him we weren't trying to get anything for free, just a reimbursement on the cost of the ruined biscuits.

After that, I realized the owner is two-faced and I am too put-off to return. I love the waiting staff and the food, but the owner has serious issues and I will not be going back because of how he...

Last weekend we went in to the copper kitchen and my daughter and I both ordered eggs toast and hash she ordered hers scrambled with cheese and I ordered mine over easy with the whites cooked and the yellows runny and both ordered our hash cook well done. When it came out the hash look uncooked and looked like alpo and my egg whites where runny I'm not down Salmonella so I asked them to cook them longer and to cook the hash longer it came out cooked better and my eggs where now burnt. I'm not one to return an item 3 times so I told our waitress it was ok. So my daughter ate and before we left we had ordered a BLT togo as we where waiting Caroline our waitress brings out an order she remembered I had the weekend before I was surprised. So we got that togo along with the BLT. We left a generous tip and off we went. So today we go to the copper kitchen for my daughters 16th birthday. We got seated ordered our drinks and the old man at the register came over and very loudly said because of last weekend he would pay for drinks but we were not welcome there again because we were to much trouble for sending back food. He told us that he didnt need our nonsense and he didnt need our money so never...

Went there today for a meeting with friends. Was very impressed. There was 7 of us, all demanding coffee and chugging it down consistently and timely, the staff was very thorough and quick and conscientious and satisfied all our coffee needs. We had 6 cinnamon buns between us, they we're exceptionally large and very delicious. Definitely not skimping on portions. I seriously couldn't believe the size of these things. They were served quickly as well, with hardly a wait despite the fact that the restaurant was considerably busy, almost every table full when we first arrived for the breakfast rush. One of the girls treated us, so I don't know as to the price, but when I had previously gazed at the menu the prices were pretty close to fair, though if the portions were reflective across the gamete as the portions were for the cinnamon buns, then they would be considered cheap. Despite a full room, and for good reason, nothing was lacking and we weren't left wanting. A generous tip was left, we had an enjoyable time, and I certainly would be willing, and happy, to repeat...

The last time I was in La Junta I googled restaurants in the area and this place popped up with a few others for world-famous green chili. I don't know what the backstory is on that in terms of who conducted the awards and how many restaurants were involved. I would consider this green chili to be above average though and medium to hot in terms of spiciness, but it didn't make me crave it to the point where I was like "I have to have this again". The hash browns, gravy, and french toast were all very generic and are not worth getting. The pancake wasn't bad (a little dry) but I have also had way better pancakes than the ones this place makes. The most unique item I had was the biscuit. It tasted excellent, was very soft, and judging by the appearance of it would guess the kitchen makes them from scratch. I have not had biscuits quite like these ones and would recommend anybody stopping by try them out. I would also request it by itself and not be smothered in gravy.

This has to be the best service I have ever had at a cafe. The Copper Kitchen is about a block from the train depot and has the best breakfast. The cinnamon roll was the size of the entire plate. The omelette was delicious and at least 4 different staff came up just to say hello and shoot the breeze. I wish I lived closer so I could eat here every week.
