Railroad themed bar with some food items. Located next to a cute little shaded park! Very clean, very well maintained, small, quiet and restful. Tables widely spaced. People also ate at the bar and watched TV. Looked to be one employee managing the bar, waitressing and cooking. She was great - friendly but professional. We liked the food - hamburgers, fries, potato salad, Margaritas and cheese sticks. There is a back patio but it did not look as nice to us. Almost as if it was under construction. We ate inside. No AC but fans and open doors kept it comfortable. We would come back. It was a peaceful break from running around doing tourist things! Also, shout out to the awesome bar/wait/cook woman! When my drink wasn't quite perfect she was empathetic, fixed it quickly and did not seem at all inconvenienced. She also checked on us several times and made us feel welcome even though we were the only people not seated at the bar (and the only people she had to leave the bar to serve!) Very very cool - as a person and professional. We really appreciated it. This was also the only place we have been to in days that did not have flies. No clue how they managed it but we enjoyed our safe and peaceful break at...

There was no particular reason I stopped in here other than another place aside from a personal preference about when I travel I don't like to eat at chain restaurants and this place was near where I pulled over to wait for my niece.
The restarurant was very clean and well decorated with train memorabilia and fact sheets. My dad is a huge train buff and it reminded me of the kind of place he wanted his man cave to be.
When I walked in there was one old regular sitting at the bar an no one else. The waitress/manager/bartender showed me the menu on the wall and then let me know what was good, what wasn't as good and what was barely edible. Turns out everything is frozen and microwave reheated (even the hamburgers which are the same prepackaged ones I get from Costco) except for the sandwiches, which are made fresh and to order.
The waitress/manager/bartender was extremely friendly and jovial, and since I was sitting alone, she was sure to check on me often.
If I ever have to go to La Junta again, I'd eat...
Read moreFirst off, I don”t know why Google says “reservations are required”. I naively called to make reservations and the nice lady who answered the phone said they don’t really take reservations, but would write our names down if we wanted. We walked into an empty place at 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. I felt a little silly. The bar tender was very friendly, and served up a very refreshing tall gin and tonic. I would call this a bar that also serves some food as the menu is pretty limited. As a bar, it has a great atmosphere , they have live entertainment that we didn’t stay long enough to see, but seemed like it would have been fun. The owner himself served us a second round and he seemed like...
