Los Tres Potrillos Mexican Food — Restaurant in La Mesa

I work near by and always saw this place, I'm more of a drive thru person but I had some extra time to kill and there 1 tj style tacos sounded excellent, and they were!! The two works we're friendly and fast, making sure they got my order right and suggested different option which I loved!!! Ended up getting the birria taco special 5 for 599, seriously they were amazing!!! Great flavor and meat portion with just enough cilantro and onion, some places cover do the toppings and it feels like you're eating a cilantro taco but they got it just right! I also ordered the potato taco special it was great and freshly made and crunchy even after my 10 min commute home it was great. I also ended up getting a qesadilla supreme for my husband but I had a couple bites and it was killer with a good portion of guacamole sourcream and beans on the side. I also helped my self to some tortilla chips and salsa which were also fresh and good quality not too spicy , I personally like things extra spicy but they were still good. We ordered take out last night. Great food. It's my new favorite taco shop, although it's more like a small authentic Mexican restaurant because they have restaurant style plates also. Got the mini carnitas and adobado tacos. Both were great, but the carnitas was my favorite 10/10. Good carnitas is hard to find and there's was juicy and tasty. Also got birria stew, which also is very good. Very nice they have birria every day. Also their red and green sauce are very good. Better taste than a typical red and green sauce. I look forward to trying more dishes...

This place is AMAZING!!! The La Mesa location is next-level—the customer service is unmatched! You can tell it’s family-owned because everyone is so genuine. The oldest son was running the register, and he went out of his way to turn on the fans and clean off a table for us right in front of them. He even shared the story behind their restaurant and catering business, which made the experience even more special.
