Just had to write this review because Tour de Tapas totally blew us away! Had dinner here with my wife and friends, and everything was spot-on. The wine list is great (wine lovers, you'll be happy!), and the food... oh my god, the food! We ordered a bunch of different tapas to share - the octopus with chistorra was perfectly cooked and seasoned, not rubbery at all. Their patatas bravas hit the spot, and the mussels in white wine were honestly some of the best I've had since visiting Spain - reminded me of this amazing place in Mallorca!
San Diego restaurants can be crazy expensive, but this place has such reasonable prices for the quality and portion sizes you get. It's actually affordable to order several plates and share, which is what tapas is all about! The service was super friendly and helpful with recommendations. Everything we tried was delicious - from the classic Spanish dishes to their Italian-inspired ones (that penne arrabbiata though!). Already planning our next visit to try everything else on the menu.
A special thanks to the staff and owners - you made our evening truly special. Your warmth and attention to detail didn't go unnoticed. Thanks for creating such a wonderful atmosphere and treating us like family. See...
Read moreWe went to Tour de Tapas tonight and I cannot emphasize how amazing the experience was. The service was impeccable, the food was to die for, and they have an amazing wine/beer list.
We started our evening off by splitting a few plates; the bread selection, made in house every morning, was an amazing accompaniment to our patatas bravas and mussels in white wine sauce. For mains, my partner got the 4 oz filet and I got the lamb lollipops, and we split the penne arriabata. I think we’re both going to be dreaming of the mains for the rest of the week as the lamb and filet were heavenly. Both came with a delectable potato side and red wine Demi-glace that were to die for.
For a dessert to cap the evening off, we split a delicious take on a crème brûlée that was to die for.
All in all, we’ll be back next week— we definitely found our new date spot! We’re so lucky they chose to put this...
Read moreThe term "tapas" in this instance isn't the Madrid-style food we were expecting, but it's in reference to the portion size. So in this case, it's similar to when you dine in a bistro.
Nothing that we ate was bad per se. I ordered the salmon which was comparable to something I could easily cook in my own kitchen except significantly smaller. It takes a minimum of two orders of tapa (priced between $15-20) to get enough food. You'll need to order three or four to get what would be typical dinner sized meal.
Service was fine and typical. Nothing exceptional, but within expectations. The atmosphere was also within expectations.
The best part of the experience for me was dessert. The chocolate mousse was excellent.
Overall, this restaurant doesn't make the mark for us. We spent more than $90 (for two people) to eat many things we could have prepared just as...
