My husband and I visited this restaurant on 3/12/2024. We live in Illinois, but my husband is from the area. We visited for a week and decided to meet with 3 friends for dinner; one of our friends frequents this restaurant so he suggested it. 4 of us arrived at 6pm and were seated right away. After 10 minutes, our waitress, Kayla, introduced herself and took our drink order. After another 10 minutes passed, Kayla checked on us to see if we wanted to order food, but we were waiting for our last friend to arrive before ordering food. We got our drinks 15 minutes after ordering, which seemed like a long wait considering 2 of the drinks were draft beer and the restaurant/bar wasn’t busy. The time approached 6:45pm when our last friend arrived at the restaurant. Kayla hadn’t checked on us since we declined to order food at 6:20pm. We waved her down to get her attention so we could order food and more drinks. Since it was Taco Tuesday, 3 of us ordered street tacos and 2 of us ordered the $5 house margarita from the Taco Tuesday menu. Another 20 minutes passed before our food came out to the table. Kayla saw we still had not received our drinks; she checked on them and brought our drinks over within a minute of delivering our food. The $5 house margaritas tasted like there wasn’t any tequila in them but instead pure margarita mix. I wouldn’t recommend ordering these. My husband ate his tacos within 5 minutes which was when Kayla checked on us; he ordered 2 more tacos. 10 minutes later, a worker brought out his tacos in a to-go container inside a plastic bag and placed it in front of my husband. We all found this incredibly rude considering we were still eating, and he hadn’t specified that the two tacos were to-go. The five of us finished eating and drinking within 15 minutes. We waited for Kayla to check on us with the potential of ordering a third round of drinks; we watched her go around and check on her other tables without acknowledging us. After a while, we waved her down so we could get our bills, pay, and leave. We asked for her to split the tab between 3 separate bills. At this point, we were unimpressed with Kayla’s lack of service the entire evening. Kayla brought back our bills, and I reviewed my and my husband’s bill for accuracy. Everything was correct, except there was a 20% service charge, which our friends also had. I figured it was probably a gratuity for having a “large” party but there were only 5 of us. I looked at the top of our bills, and I saw “Guests: 6”. 3 of us have worked in a restaurant and knew that typically if you input the number of guests and it’s at the threshold for “large party” gratuity, then the bill will automatically add the gratuity/service charge. We looked it up on the restaurant’s website and found that gratuity is added for parties of 6 or more people. This seemed suspicious, so we wanted to ask Kayla about it for clarity. My husband tried to get Kayla’s attention. She walked towards the host stand 5 feet away, and my husband said her name while he waved to her, but she didn’t look up or acknowledge him. I got up from our table and approached her at the host stand. I said to Kayla, “Hey, what is this service charge for on our bills?” Kayla quickly said, “We can take it off!”, in a panicked manner like we had caught her doing something wrong. Another waitress interjected and said, “Gratuity is added for parties of 5 or more.” I responded, “Your website states that it’s for parties of 6 or more, and on our bill, you input 6 guests in our party.” Kayla urgently repeated they could remove the service charge. I gathered the 3 bills and gave them to Kayla to correct, which meant removing the gratuity charge that her and/or the other waitress had tried to sneakily charge us. While Kayla fixed the bills, the other waitress walked by and told me that Kayla would have the bills right out and that "I'll make sure to update the website" in a condescending tone. The way we were treated, ignored, and almost scammed into paying a service charge ensures we won't...
Read moreUnfortunately there is no way I can put zero stars. I stopped to eat after a company event that was held in the Holiday Inn hotel, what a BIG MISTAKE and disappointment, the waitress named Kayla, distracted me and just gave me my receipt and kept my debit card, unfortunately I noticed it until I got home. I called the place and they told me that they were going to close in 10 minutes so I had to wait until next morning to go get my card, my nightmare started that night, they made many transactions, transferred money to Venmo and Zelle, tried to add my card to a PayPal account, luckily PayPal was sending to my email the code. I noticed all the transactions until next morning, I went to the restaurant, spoke with the manager and he assured he will “investigate “ and review the security cams, even he gave me my card, they had a copy of it because still trying to use it online. Until now, they never had contact me, take any action or accountability, that restaurant is part of the Holiday Inn, they have many events and guests coming to that restaurant, it is very unpleasant, unethical , to been scammed for someone working at public places where they have the ability to take our personal property and use it without any form of discipline or punishment. Be aware of this place if you’re planning to stay in that hotel or visit that restaurant. Zero starts! Stay away of 12...
Read moreThe restaurant is very swanky and clean. I love the music and rock-n-roll vibe. The service is great as well. I order the hummus trio which was amazing. I also ordered the black bean burger which was unfortunately disappointing. The patty was very mushy which I’ve never seen before in my life. And because the burger was so large, I had to push it down to even eat it, causing the soft, mushy patty to pour out the sides of the bun. I tried a little bit of the mush to see if the flavor was good enough that I’d just eat it with a fork and I didn’t care for the flavor. It is pepper heavy and kind of bland, not very black bean-y. My server was so nice though and took it off my tab. I highly suggest creating a black bean patty that isn’t mushy. I’ve never seen a mushy black bean patty ever before, and being vegetarian I eat a lot of black bean burgers. That said, I really enjoyed the hummus trio. It was really truly very good. And I still believe this place deserves 5 stars because of the cleanliness, the presentation of the food, and the great...
