It was a hard night last night at Clearman's as one of their workers was injured and taken away in an ambulence. Having said that it was the worst experience I've had there! We didn't mind waiting to get seated 30 minutes after our reservation time, as we knew they were busy. But here is where it goes downhill. Our party was split up because there was 9 of us. We knew that. I was told that our tables would be close enough so we could talk to one another, that was not the case. Don't tell people that because we were too far away to converse. We waited forever for our food. When it does come out, we hear one of the helpers tell the waitress, "This is too heavy, I'm not a waitress, I'm not doing this again!" There was an empty table near by, she finally figured it out and set down the plates. Then our first batch of cheese bread was burnt. My daughter's steak was cold. We asked for my parents steak well done, and it was medium rare, my parents were so hungry, they ate it anyways. We asked for the topping on the potatoes on the side. My dad's was on the side my mother's wasn't. My dad's potatoes was undercooked and hard and he could bareley eat it. My mom's food was cold. Then my husband's potatoe came with butter on the side, when we didn't ask for it that way. My sister ordered 4 crab legs and they gave her 3.5. Then we get to my order and my steak is well done when I ordered it medium. I sent it back, it took forever to get my steak. It took so long that the rest of my food is now super cold. When it does come the girl helping the server is standing there and I tell her that's my steak and she tells says to me, "sorry I can't give it to you because the server told me to wait because she wanted to give it to you." The server then goes to the next table and gives them their food while I'm waiting for steak, all while the helper is just standing there with my steak...Really? I've waited how long and your going to stand there and make me wait to give me steak? Then I tell the waitress that the young lady at the next table, it's her birthday as we had indicated on the reservation and had let the hostess know, and she says to me "which one?," and I said to her there's only one lady at the next table. She must of not heard me but I was like "Really?" What has happened Clearman's, your food and service used to be so great. Your salad is still amazing, it's kind of hard to mess up salad and cheese bread, but everything else was just pitiful! I'm sad to say I will miss the salad and cheese bread (I can always buy the butter and bread and Google recipe for salad) but after over 20 years of coming to this place we'll be looking for a new...
Read moreIt was my husband birthday and We had dinner last night and food is always AMAZING and DELICIOUS except for the 2nd round of the green salad we had to mix it ourselves which never happened everytime we done in. Our Server DEBBIE was the worst server we had! She do not have a personality! She told me they have a full bar menu and when I asked if the bar can make me a blackberry mojito she told me they cannot make mojitos. Ok, so why did she said they have a full bar menu?? And said that flat straight while she could have said I apologize but the bar cannot make them. It’s a matter of how you tell to customers. She kept passing by our table and doesn’t check in if everything is ok or if we need anything. My husband has to get up and go to the bar and order for his 2nd drink since she kept passing by and does not check with us or look at our table to see if someone is out of drinks. I understand if that time is busy and she could have said I’m sorry it’s just busy but she be right back and he what we need. Food was just served on the table and in 10 seconds she is asking us if everything good and we haven’t had a taste of the food. Then he asked our friend if he needs another drink but never asked my husband if he needs one! My husband has to speak up that he needs one. She only asked us once or check with us once if everything is ok while we are eating but never asked again if I need a drink lol! So I was out of my drink and my husband has to wait for her to pass by and tell her I need a refill of my drink. I was already pissed at the beginning until we left still pissed off with her service. This is the worst one we had among all the times we dine in here! This is my husbands favorite restaurant that is why we come here but getting that server Debbie last night, oh boy I kept my cool and just wrote a note on the receipt that we she gave us a bad service. I hope this won’t happen again next time we come back. Just like I said it’s a matter how you word it when people/customers ask you something. And as a server you need to check in to see if customers need anything. If she’s new she should have said something too so we can understand but it seems she is overwhelmed. I told my husband the reason why she was checking us towards the end is because we are done eating and ready to pay the check and she wants the tip… I’m sorry for saying it that way but that’s the way I look at it and how i interpreted her actions. Hopefully this won’t happen agaIn next time we come back. Still...
Read moreI grew up going to Northwoods Inn. My dad is finally moving out of CA, and on my last trip down I soooo wanted to visit the restaurant one more time to get my fix off the cheese bread & salads. I made a reservation online for 10 people. When we were seated, the table was only set for 9 people.... No big deal right? Pulled up another table, pulled over another chair. The waitress seemed nice, even after waiting about 15 minutes to even get water. We finally got to order, she repeated everyone's orders, got our salads, I'm in heaven! Food comes out after a bit of a wait (with no drink or salad refills during the wait) and a shrimp plate was delivered to my step-daughter (who does not eat seafood, and ordered the chicken dinner), and my sister's plate had rice on it (who had UC and cannot eat rice and specifically told the waitress this upon ordering). Shrimp plate is taken back, she tells my sister she will get her veggie side, but does not take the plate with the rice on it. 15 minutes later, my sister scrapes the rice from her plate, washes off her steak and proceeds to start eating. My step-daughter sits there eating some bread. 9 of us finish our meals, close to 45 minutes after getting said meals, the chicken dinner finally shows up with my sister's side of veggies. They proceed to eat, the rest of us visit with each other. Finally get the bill. I get charged for the shrimp plate and the chicken dinner....I let the waitress know about the error, she the takes the bill and removes the shrimp plate only. No discount for the rice error, no discount for the chicken dinner. I did not expect to have a huge discount, but after the wait, and the errors, a discount on the plates that were incorrect would have been nice.
The restaurant was extremely loud, we all had issues hearing each other. Paid $5 for ice teas & sodas that only got refilled once. Steaks that were ordered as medium came out as very rare (I was a cook in a restaurant for years, I understand true temps on steaks, but medium steaks should at least be warm in the middle, not raw) After everything, I guess it was a great last visit, because if I still lived in the area, I would NEVER visit the restaurant again. I almost felt bad (almost) calculating the tip based on the cost of the chicken dinner, and the steak dinner that was served to my sister, as part of the tip, but for the price we paid and the service we received, the waitress was lucky she got any...
