Because my manboobs aren't plump & supple enough......
Soy Tofu, purveyor of fine phytoestrogens, offering authentic Korean cuisine in La Palma.
Date Spot Alert! Date Spot Alert! What I first noticed when I walked in was the ambiance. Chandeliers, street lamps & smooth jazz create an intimate dining atmosphere. I almost thought I was at a French bistro.
I decided upon the Seafood soondubu, w/ clams, shrimp & oysters ($9). Heat Level:Spicy. Bubbling hot & awaiting to be lovingly caressed by my tastebuds, the soondubu was thick, spicy and soothing to my soul. It looks small but is quite filling. Spicy was just right for me because sweat was pouring down my head. Eating & detoxifying at the same time, score!
The unlimited banchan selections were good, with me availing myself of an extra helping or five.
Diners have the option of white or purple rice with their entrees, which is a plus! I've only had purple rice a few times before, so I couldn't pass up another opportunity to have it.
For dessert.......a burger! A gummy mini burger came with the check. I would've preferred some free ice cream like some other local soondubu places I've been to, but that didn't stop me from enjoying my burger. Can I get it protein-style next time ;p
Service was great. I was asked if I wanted & was given more banchan during my meal. I also channeled my inner Clumsy Smurf and spilled my water. The attendant didn't bat an eyelash at my lack of dexterity.
Parking is in shared private lot at the Super 1 Mart market plaza. Soy Tofu is on the right of Super 1 Mart & behind La Capilla if you're driving down La Palma Ave.
I really enjoyed my first visit to Soy Tofu. The delicious food, friendly service & chill vibe make it a great place to eat with your friends, family and/or significant other. I can't wait to come back and have a go at the rest of the menu.

Reason for 1 star: Disrespectful, Unprofessional, Hair in food
We really wanted to like this place, but our recent experience was so frustrating and disappointing that we will never return.
My husband stopped by on his way home to place an order in person since we couldn’t get through on the phone. Once there, he learned their phone and internet were down, which explained why. That part we understood.
He placed the order and was asked to pay via Venmo. He confirmed the recipient with the owner and sent the money, but she didn’t seem to know how to check her Venmo app. As she fumbled with her phone, the food came out, but instead of finishing the payment check, she rushed over to help a new group of customers — leaving my husband standing there while the food sat on the counter.
After another 5–10 minutes, a worker asked if they could hand him the food, and the owner actually yelled, “No, don’t give him the food! I need to check Venmo!” Even after he showed both the Venmo confirmation screen and email receipt, she insisted she hadn’t received it.
Finally — more than 30 minutes after ordering — she suddenly said, “Oh, we got it!” and let him leave. By that point, my husband was so upset and frustrated with how poorly it was handled.
To make matters worse, when I opened my beef intestine soup at home, I found a hair in it. That was the final straw.
Between the lack of basic payment knowledge, the way the owner abandoned the transaction mid-check, the unnecessary delay, and the hygiene issue, this was an awful experience from start to finish. We tried to be patient and understanding, but left feeling disrespected and let down. Definitely not somewhere...
Read moreMarch 3, 2023 We live in Hacienda Heights and looking for a Korean Tofu and Galbi for dinner. I searched Internet, typed "Best Korean Tofu around here". SOY TOFU came up. I looked at the reviews and decided to give it a try. First impression: We arrived at 4:30 PM, Friday. One of the owner swept the front of the restaurant. I thought they have pride of their restaurant. Second impression: I am a stroke patient. I walked with my cane to the front door, the owner gentleman opened the door for me. " A gentleman and a kind person". Third impression: the restaurant was spotless. Fourth impression: I walked with my cane to the toilet. The owner lady opened the front door to the toilet corridor for me. Another kind gester. Now the real test: we ordered a combination Oyster Tofu with Galbi and a combination Beef and seafood Tofu with Galbi. Each order costs $33, a bargain! The Oyster Tofu was great. It had very fat Oysters with complexed taste. The beef and sea food Tofu were filled with beef and seafood. Note: For the combination, they served a full size Tofu (most restaurant serve a smaller size). Galbi: each serving had nicely seasoned and barbecued short ribs. The Galbi were tender and tasty. Another wonderful surprise, they serve eight different kinds of Kimchi condiments. The hard to find items are Aloe Vera and sweet peanut kimchi. Everything were so tasty, we finished every single item they served us. The service was attentive and excellent. Final surprise: Soy Tofu has a self served three different kinds of ice cream. We highly recommend this...
