UPDATE: I intially left out alot of details in an effort to save time however, since you decided to respond with an unfounded statement here's the entire story. My mother loves the food at this place however, I think the food is average at best. The issue is the customer service or lack thereof dependant upon who you are..(read in between the lines). I was attempting to place a to-go order for my mother who is in a rehab facility 10 mins away, I drove to the restaurant while still on hold, when I walked in the waitress asked if she could take my order. I replied yes and that I was also on hold with the establishment. With a nasty disposition she stated "well you can hang up someone called out so "I'm doing the best I can". My issue was her attitude..as I later told "Kim" the supposed MOD. I understand they get busy..however, the older lady that used to work mornings handled walk in customers and phone orders with professionalism, and great customer service regardless of how busy it was! Once I called her out about her attitude she started to shed "I am the victim tears".She went back and told a cook who came out to see who I was something and they both started laughing, he stated and I quote " don't worry I got you" and walked back to the back where my food was being prepared..naturally I assumed that they are talking about my food. I told her that if my mother got sick later because they were tampering with my food then it would be a issue. The cook brought out my order, threw it on the counter and walked away. The waitress did not look up or even acknowledge that it was my to go order. I opened to bag, checked the food, asked for silverware, to which she threw in the bag still not looking up. I took the food and walked out. However as I grew more concerned about the ordeal I turned around came back and ask to speak with the manager. When asked the MOD who I now know to be Kim put her hand on her hip and said "I am" the MOD rudely. I asked "may I speak with you about my carryout order" to which she responded "oh you're the one".. we already talked about you" and insisted that we have the conversation at the register in front on other patrons. She didnt say a word about any of my concerns HOWEVER, when I stated that I did not receive any plastic silverware she stated that they didnt give out silverware without the patron asking for it...NOTHING to the lack of customer service or possibility of food tampering. She did stated that she'd worked there for 16 yrs and if I was concerned about food tapering then maybe I didn't need to come back. After I tired to explain that my mom eats there at least 3 times a week and given a NORMAL situation I wasn't worried about my food being tampered with HOWEVER, given this mornings exchange I was concerned, she stated that she'd put my name on the do not service list. I, in return told her that was ok, being that my mom is the one who likes the place. I proceeded to ask for the owners name to whom she'd only say was Bob, she refused to provide a last name or number. When I asked how I could contact him she said to call and leave a message at the restaurant on the answering machine...I willingly pay my hard earned money at places that I am treated like EVERYONE ELSE and given good customer service. Not at a place that refused to even acknowledge my very valid concerns. They just lost a loyal customer ( my mom) I caution ALL to stop supporting places that only value your dollar AS long as you don't question them or their lack of customer service. As for your response Sir..sorry i missed the call BUT I called back within 15 minutes only to be placed on hold and eventually disconnected. PLEASE feel free to contact me anytime before 12pm as I work overnights. I am more than willing to have a productive conversation. Furthermore, regarding the comment about leaving a staff member in tears , ALL I stated was that the older lady did a much better job running the morning operations. Again..uncalled for victim tears. I look forward to speaking with you at your earliest...
Read moreFirst time going to this place. I had been wanting to come here for years and check it out. I thought it is was more so food geared towards yt people but I saw lots of black ppl go in there so I thought I would give them a try. I really wanted some good breakfast and sadly there is none to me in the Waldorf/La plata area. Anyways I was going to dine in but I chose to take my food to go because I didn’t want to deal with the crowd. It was busy and the entrance space is really tight which I did not like. The desk for seating, and the counter for to go orders and the bakery area were all right there as soon as you walk in the door, it was super cramped and I’m 9 months pregnant I could barely move around people. The young lady at the bakery/to go counter was by herself I felt like she needed an extra set if hands because she was trying to do a lot for one person and it took about 10+ mins to order my food. I went in the car and waited until I got the text that it was ready which I had to wait again for that, I went to check my food outside since there was nowhere to place my bag down to check it inside. Everybody’s looked good but they gave me a super burned pancake like it was so black and burned it even smelled burned. The one on top of it was perfection but the other one I have no idea why the cook would even put that on my plate anywho I took it back in to have them done over which I had to wait about 10 mins for. Once I got home I warmed everything up and the food was good. I give the taste a 10 the only thing I did do was season my home fries to my liking because there was no seasoning on them but that was no big deal to me. The portions of the food was a lot I couldn’t eat everything. Btw I ordered the french toast with eggs, turkey bacon and home fries, and pancakes with eggs whites, turkey bacon and home fries. I gave them a 4 star because of the small and cramped entrance way and because the cook gave me a burned crispy pancake and tried to hide it underneath a good...
Read moreWent here on 9/8/23 and was greatly disappointed. It was my first time coming here since moving away, I was very excited to bring my out of town bf and show him the great place that is Marie's. My family used to come alll the time for breakfast. The biggest and main issue was service. We were seated around 6:20pm, placed our drink and appetizer order at about 6:25, the waitress came back and asked if we wanted more drinks. I did not place a meal order as I was still deciding. I laid my menu down, talking to my bf, and when she came again, she only asked to refill drinks, we said no and before we could say more she was gone. That happened one more time. Walked away without asking if we were ready to order or even waiting for us to speak up and say so, without having to holler after her.
The next time we saw her, she brought our appetizer, after asking the two tables next to us if they had "Potato skins". My bf noticed it was 4 skins with shredded pork. We ordered the bacon and cheese ones, which came as 6. So we waited awhile and caught her passing by and said these are the wrong ones, these are the pork ones. She seemed confused, i said we ordered bacon, and after not saying much of anything she took them back.
At this point, it's 6:55pm. I expected her to come back and check in on us, maybe ask us for our order?
Didn't see her. By 7pm she came and I told her I'd just like the check. I get places are busy, but this was a lack of skill or something. To not take customers food orders within 35 minutes of seating them is too long.
She comped our drinks, gave us the appetizer to go and apologized.
I'm not very confrontational, so I did not ask for a manager or tell her my concerns in person.
I was just disappointed. Maybe we'll stick to breakfast hours, early in the day. Seems to be a completely different place than the evening hours. Giving 3 stars because as I said, the morning times are just so different. Equally busy, but totally...
