Galazio's on a Friday Night! It's been some time since I last visited this amazing restaurant. They opened another restaurant in Waldorf (Brazilian Steakhouse) that I need to visit as well. This place gets crowded fast and this being the holidays so many To Go orders were being prepared. There was a ling during my visit so I was able to grab a space at the bar. There are a lot of regulars who have there space at the bar and they were welcoming to new guest. The owner's came out on numerous occasions and offered the special with fried oysters. I had to try them and they are some of the best freshly fried oysters I've had in a very long time. This will be a place I return to for the oysters to start. Sam was my waitress and bartender who came in to work and immediately introduced herself. She made my requested cocktail perfectly (Tito's and a splash of cranberry). This was a colder evening in December and the draft from the numerous guest coming into the restaurant was eye opening. They offer a large selection of wines to go with your meal. Several holiday celebrations and birthdays were being held during my visit. Sam suggested the lamb chops, kale and rice for dinner. This was cooked to perfection and had lots of great taste with every portion of the meal. I then closed out the meal with a Stella served in a Chalice to perfection. This is La Plata, Maryland and is the Best sit down restaurant in the area. It's totally worth the drive for those outside the area. The food is amazing, the staff is on point and the atmosphere is so nice that you would think you weren't in La Plata. I normally have the brick fired pizza and will return for pizza soon. The patio has always been a go to over the spring/summer. You have to visit Galazio's and enjoy an evening out in La...
Read moreLoved the atmosphere, the wait staff and the food. Not a 'quiet' restaurant, but a pleasant amount of dining chatter and a bit of music piped in (believe some 70's 80's jazz type instrumentals). If you want to hold a conversation at a whisper level this is not the spot, but conversation at a normal volume was just fine. Felt at home instantly and still gave the ambience of an upscale restaurant (not a white tablecloth 'fine' 'gourmet' type of upscale). The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive, and knowledgeable of the menu. I had the Cream of Crab soup, which had nice small lumps of crab was creamy smooth with just the right seasoning (no need to throw in the oyster crackers that came with it on the side). Main course was traditional lambchops, these were 4 or 5 small chops on the bone, grilled a perfect medium well. Served with wedges of pita, tzatziki and rice pilaf. The seasoning of the chops was spot on, ate some with the pita and tzatziki, and a couple I couldn't resist to eat right off the bone (if you are offer a handle of a bone you use it right?). For dessert had something new to me, Galaktoboureko, a Greek dessert of a custard wrapped inside of phyllo. The custard had a consistency similar to flan. Whip cream with a sliced strawberry and a couple blueberries dressed the side of the treat. I believe it had a honey type glaze with some white chocolate shavings. Was a wonderful dessert, maybe a bit much for me to tackle solo considering I had the soup course and a side of kale with the main course, but waste not want not! Pricing is definetly higher than the cookie cutter dinner spots, but worth the excellent grill work and overall ambiance in my opinion. Would...
Read moreIncredible! We decided on this restaurant on spur of the moment, but we do recommend reservations. We lucked out, and we're able to get a table. Once you sit down, put your seat belt on because you are about to have a wildly delicious experience. We started with the Tri Dip and could not eat it fast enough. All three dips - roasted red pepper, hummus, and tzatziki - were soooo good with amazing grilled toasted pitas. Next, we both had the Greek salad. Delicious! For the main course, we decided to go for it with the Mixed Plate that had lamb chops that melt in your mouth, had Greek sausages that were snappy and tasty, had tiger shrimp that made you want to order a couple of dozen of them, had pork skewers with a beautiful grilled char, and had 10 to 12 drool worthy gyro pieces sprinkled throughout, and finally nice chicken chunks. More grilled pitas in support. I don't think we had one bite without rolling our eyes in pleasure. We chose the Paros wine, a white that is a little dry, not sweet, with clean citrus flavor that paired well with grilled meats. For your first visit, this is the dish you should order. If you're sharing with 4 people, ask for extra lamb chops so everyone gets one. We ended the evening with creme bruleé, which was perfect. Our dinner was worth every penny. Lastly, the wait staff was exemplary and attentive without hovering. Based on the mixed dish we had as our entree, you can't go wrong ordeing anything on the menu. Marvelous experience!! Highly recommend!! (Sorry, we had nearly destroyed the entree before we thought to...
