Roy Rogers — Restaurant in La Plata

Over the course of two visits I have had two less than pleasant experiences on the first visit. I had asked for chicken wings although they had chicken wings. The menu called for two piece. The lady at the counter placed three wings on my tray that her supervisor had her take one back even though the menu called for A breast or thighs as the second piece. The third piece had fallen through the cracks. It was quite old. It wasn’t the piece she took off the tray. It was so dried out and grungy as to be inedible, shame on them. Obviously, she took the nice piece and put it back. The manager was showing the nasty piece and offered a replacement appeased. I went on my way.

The second visit turned out to be a nightmare first I had to pull around and wait for the food. It took so long my passengers were demanding to go home so that they could eat something as they’ve given up. Hope when the food did come out items were missing. No spoon for the ice cream. No drink with the children’s meal. No fixens. No condiments. No whipped cream on either milkshake. I had to pull over and go inside to get the items all the while being yelled and screamed at because even though it took so damn long they couldn’t get it right. Worse yet the cook from the back brought the food out. Don’t they have front end people for that. So much for basic sanitation quite frankly.

If you’re lucky, the food is excellent, but the staff is so lackadaisical and uninspired as to make the near $50 bill not worth another visit. for that kind of money. I could’ve gone next-door to Fosters and had a...

Fried chicken. Didn't have any white meat at all. "we'll give you some extra legs/thighs but you'll have to wait 30 min for breast/wings". OK. Got home no extra pieces, 3 drumsticks and 5 thighs. Chicken was well cooked, not ever done, but a) not what we wanted and b) not what we were promised. minus 2 stars. Biscuits - 3 were hockey pucks, one was OK and noticeably warmer than the rest. Minus one star. Mashed potatoes and gravy. Once gravy was added it began to thicken and the potatoes began to thin - obviously instant, and this gravy was so thin that the potatoes just bled into it and it into them. Minus another star. The mac and cheese was passable, I'll let you keep a star. Not going back for chicken. To the owner: Thank you for the response below. I edited the above to say not going back for chicken, I've had roast beef many times and it has always been excellent. Props where due, and I will stop in again for a sandwich. I appreciate your offer, you obviously care about your establishment, but I do not need anything...

I haven't eaten Roy Roger's in a long time, forgotten how the chicken tasted. Stopped here on the humble at their La Plata location, Manager D. Toye.

I ordered the beer battered cod which comes with two sides. The fish was filling,cooked perfectly, golden brown, and non-greasy. My sister ordered two chicken legs along with her fish.

I tasted a piece of chicken and instantly transported back into time. Needless to say, Roy Roger's has not lost their recipe for their chicken.

The service was impeccable, friendly staff, quick and efficient service, they provided ample condiments, and service was provided with a smile. The dinning area was very clean and spacious.
