Ref's Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in La Vista

ABSOLUTELY LOVE. Details: I really like the atmosphere of this place. There’s a bar to sit at and plenty of regular and high top tables and there’s a section for bigger groups and then a nice quiet semi-private outdoor patio seating area with great furniture. Plenty of sports TVs with different channels on, but none of the volumes were on so it didn’t feel overwhelmingly loud; just some quieter music, but still able to talk at the table. We were greeted by the bartender and found a table we liked - it was a Sunday afternoon so not very busy but still a few different groups eating. Our waitress, Taylor, came over quickly and gave us menus and took our drink order after we asked what was on tap. We were really pleasantly surprised that they had linenkeugel summer shandy on tap because it’s not something we’ve seen very often. She brought our drinks quickly while we were looking over the menu. There were lots of really great options and some unique things like fish and chips and beef taco salad - there are wings and burgers and appetizers and sandwich and salads and wraps. We ordered a pork tenderloin sandwich with fries and the chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich with tots and we both got a side of honey mustard and ranch. This was our go to bar for a very long time. But one off night by a bartender who would take our empty drinks and not bring us new ones. Not one time but 4 different times. Where even a stranger at the bar even noticed it and said something to us about it. We never said anything just stopped going but then went back and talked to the owner about it. She said maybe she was just busy. We were sitting right by the beer cooler. She could get everyone else at the bar a new beer but not us. That’s not being too busy. That’s purposefully being ignored. All because we didn’t say please after having to ask 3 times if they could change the channel on a tv. She made the bartender come over to us to apologize. We didn’t feel it was sincere and we stated that and that was the end. We stayed drank and enjoyed ourselves the rest of the evening. Advance a week to last night we go in to sit at a table with a group of people and to avoid the bar area. As soon as we sit down we get called outside by the owner to say he can’t have us “fighting” with the staff. Please explain how we were “fighting” with the staff when we never spoke to anyone. That’s fine we’ll take our $200-$300 that we used to spend in there almost weekly somewhere else. There’s something to be said as to why a lot of the regulars aren’t in there so much anymore. We went to this establishment for the first time. It was of great disappointment. The chips we ordered with queso had plastic pieces in them and old french fries pieces, the iced teas was watered down and the chicken strips where over cooked, dried out. We didn't say anything about any of this except the chips as we didn't want to eat them anymore after random findings. We mentioned it to our server, (to whhich by the way she was of great service) who went and told manager. They took of $2.00 off only on their over priced $11.00 chips with queso. No apologies or manager coming over to talk about the experience. To top it off the place was like an ice box. We aren't ones to complain and write bad reviews often but this was a terrible experience! Veyry over priced food for poor quality. We will not be going back to this place. Hope they are able to get better management and quality of food if they expect peoples to pay there...
