Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Ladysmith

I've worked fast food before and I know things happen but I've hit my limit with this joint. 9 out of 10 times that I've come here, there's been some issue. This evening was no different. I ordered a large pineapple sundae After paying I waited and waited and waited. It was rather busy but after standing there for 1/2 an hour (unfortunately I'm not exaggerating) and seeing several people who ordered way after me get their food and leave, the guy who took my order looked at me and walked over to the screen where the orders are shown and pointed up at them to the girl working in front of them. I'm not sure how you can miss an order for a single item that has been up there for 1/2 an hour but apparently she did. To add insult to injury she then hands over a small sundae with about 1/8 of a cup of pineapple. I ordered a large pineapple sundae. If I had wanted a small cup of vanilla ice cream I would have ordered it. In the end, the take out order I had sitting in my car that I had picked up for my coworker prior to stopping at DQ was cold, soggy and I was late to work. We came in on Friday night. It was not busy at all. The girl that took our order was very quiet but nice. After our order was taken, we watched them set our fries up under the warming light. We proceeded to wait 12 minutes for our burgers. As we were waiting we heard the manager yell at an employee about going home sick and telling her that if she has to call in tomorrow do so before her 4pm shift. This should have been taken care of in private, not in front of customers. When our order was finished, the girl handed it to us and the fries that had been sitting there for 12 minutes were stone cold. We asked her if we could get new hot fries. As we were walking to our table we heard her ask the manager, Melissa about the fries and Melissa yelled, NO! The girl immediately brought us the same fries back to our table. We were so disgusted by the whole experience that we just ate quick and got out of there. The manager there, Melissa should not be customer facing and has no manager skills at all. Arrived at DQ at 9:20 pm and we were told they close at 9:30, we had looked up the closing time online and it said 10 pm (who closes at 9:30, seems an odd time). We were also told they had already turned off the ice cream machine -- seems to me you shouldn't do that until you're closed since DQ is ice cream that late at night! THEN we were told that we could get prepackaged things but if we ordered anything it would have to be to go because they were closing!!!!! I've worked in restaurants and if a customer comes in 2 minutes before close and wants to eat in you stay until they are ready to leave. Then we learned they did thaw te one thing most of my grandkids would settle for -- stars so we left and got our ice cream somewhere else.
