Toad House — Restaurant in Ladysmith

Excellent, satisfying lunches combined with a friendly welcoming staff make Toad House a must. The soups are particularly outstanding (and I am NOT a soup person!) -- full of tasty ingredients without being salty. Sandwiches often are creative and always good, as are the quiche. If you have room after lunch, try one of the pastries. Toad House also is one of the few places in the area to get a decent cup of coffee. While you dine, you will be surrounded by various handcrafts and art work. A long room at one end exhibits a wide variety of items for sale, including unique boxes made from tree limbs, jewelry, books, CDs, felt animals, paintings, photos and other interesting objects. Such a little gem in this small town. The coffee shop promotes local artistry and they have a kids corner for kids to do art projects. The walls are filled with paintings and different crafts that you can purchase. They have a few choice lunch and breakfast items, and a pretty big selection of baked goods. So friendly and welcoming by patrons and the barista. Enjoyed looking at the artwork and gifts for sale while waiting for our treats. Wonderful bakery treats, including scones and huge cookies, and delicious caramel lattes. Would have loved to have tried some of the other menu, offerings, too.
