I don’t know what the heck happened or what is going on but if the desolate looking dining room compared to the packed in Parking lot over at the North End Cafe is any reflection then by all indications those patrons are also very unimpressed!!!Not sure what is going on; but I can only say this place USED to be the one place I could reliably stop in and get my breakfast cooked exactly as I ordered and not rubbery hash browns cold and cooked over in poorly executed attempt to make them appear as though they were cooked crispy as I asked. And the real kick in the a$$ is SUNNY DELITE juice DRINK that they apparently think can be passed off as ORANGE JUICE. Really!?!?!? Sunny Delight. THAT bs right there. There is no added sugar and flavoring in Real OJ. And I don’t bother even telling them when asked ‘how everything was’. I’m sure they know exactly how it is which is how they should expect it to be = exactly as designed to be =unimpressive! Not that they really want to know and not that I really care to lie or waste my time telling them. That’s what Google is for I guess. Not sure what has changed or why but they need to change it RIGHT BACK...
Read moreVisited for the first time on Saturday morning. I enjoyed the Lumberjack Breakfast. The portion was generous.
I noticed the staff (a young lady) seemed to be friendly only with regular diners. After serving my food, refilling my coffee once, and leaving the receipt, she didn’t check on me again. I had hoped she would ask how everything was. I actually needed a box to take the leftovers home. She passed by my table many times, but she never paid attention to my table. After waiting for 20 minutes, I realized she would never come back to my table, and I had to go to the counter and ask another staff member for a box. Not sure if it's the restaurant’s policy for customers to request a box at the counter, but I wish she had been more attentive. I also hope that first-time visitors are treated just as kindly as...
Read moreI had been to the Downtowner for the first time years ago, but hadn't reviewed it. Today, I decided to stop by and see if the food was as good today as it was the last time I stopped in for breakfast. I had the two sweet cream pancakes and link sausage with coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed the pancakes, which had a dense consistency and lightly sweet flavor. I also found the sausage links to be good and noticed that they were served in a casing. The coffee wasn't anything special and was so hot that I couldn't drink much of it until I was nearly done with my food. Overall, not a bad breakfast with fairly quick service. If you do go and don't want to sit at the bar, prepare to wait. Tables here are...
