As a former resident of Lafayette who worked in downtown at the now defunct Daily Advertiser, I have a history eating at Dwyers, not to mention it has been there for little over 100 years. When I began eating at Dwyer's, it was just counter service - not the larger dining areas and outdoor seating that exists now. It was pleasure to return and enjoy a #2 breakfast with grits on sleepy Monday morning. I enjoyed walking through the entire space before finding a seat, admiring the stained glass windows, ceiling fans, red brick walls, wood floors and of course, the wall of history, which took me back to a time before I discovered it. This morning I chose to dine on patio, where I enjoyed people watching and friendly passersby of regulars as I waited for my breakfast. My server was very efficient and friendly, addressing me with various endearments that were welcome. I ate my breakfast slowly, savoring every bit of my grits, eggs, iced coffee and butter drenched biscuit. it was quite filling, and I was unable to finish it all but it was nice contrast to another breakfast restaurant down the street, serving bite sized plates for more money. Yes indeed, I do enjoy enjoy tradition and a hearty meal at a landmark of Lafayette. My family has tradition of eating here, and I shared few meals with my brother, who was a regular; he recently died and was the purpose of my visit to Lafayette. I thought of our times there, and thought of how fitting it was to enjoy one more good meal at Dwyer's. I look forward to returning here when I visit my sister later this year. And recommend it to anyone who wants good meal for fair price.

Downtown Lafayette, but a hopping little place !! Parking is easy- right across the street. Service and food were top notch.. No wait to sit. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. We were there for lunch and it wasn't so noisy we couldn't hear each talk. The menu is quite yummy. You wanna get one of everything! Our food was served quickly and delish ! All the staff their is just as friendly as can be. We just happened to be in downtown area, but they have another one on Johnston. Might be easier to get to, especially if you are just passing thru or only there for a short visit. They've been there long time, and when you visit you'll know why ! It's a local fave with a hometown feeling ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

1/24/21: I came here for the first time, and I LOVED IT!!!! (Everytime I tried to come before, it was ALWAYS a packed house with folks waiting along the side of the building.) There are generous portions of food served here for breakfast. You will not leave hungry, nor will you leave angry (because maybe the food wasn't prepared or seasoned right). I think I ordered the number 3 with a side of grits. It was nice to see that they butter the biscuits on the inside. ๐Ÿ˜Š I can't wait until I go back and try some of the other food. I highly recommend this eatery. The ambiance of the place is nice and comfortable, too.

I had the bacon and egg English muffin breakfast sandwich and it was absolutely incredible! The seasoning on the table made it for sure -Side Note: can yall please tell me where I can purchase it?!- The waitress was very sweet and although it took awhile to get drinks and order I still gave her 4 stars for her service because she was, what looked like to me, got many tables at 1 time and she was on the same steps for many of us and that can be difficult to navigate when it is as busy as it was when I went. She handled it well though and communicated thoroughly to endure we didn't feel forgotten about. My Mimi had brought me here as a nostalgic visit as this was her father's favorite breakfast place "in the world!" As she put it. I absolutely see why he loved it so much. ๐Ÿ˜€ They have adorable stickers, ornaments, post cards, ect at the front where you pay when you leave. I wanted them all! Great little memory piece for anyone who comes to eat that's visiting. I did not try the lunch but the menu looked amazing and the dishes I did see come out looked like grandma made it herself with all the love โค๏ธ The only thing I was not a fan of what that the hasbrowns were more like mashed breakfast potatoes and I'm a crispy hashbrown kind of girl. Other than that, overall, we had a great experiance and I definitely recommend...

I took my wife and son to this restaurant yesterday, as my wife and I had been here previously, and we enjoyed that experience. We were told to find a seat and the server came to get our drink order. I decided on ordering the #3 breakfast. I asked for bacon and sausage. When the server brings me the plate I look down at it and I was a bit confused as to why I had small burger patties on my plate. I asked him to come back over as I looked at the plate and in my confusion I wanted to make sure I was going to say the right thing. The guy said, "What!?" I looked at him and then said I seem to have burger patties instead of sausage. He brought down his finger and almost touched my food and said sausage. He walked off. I am sorry, but first off you don't talk like that to a customer. Second, the menu said sausage. Not ground up sausage patties. Now I should have asked if it was a sausage link, but just went based off the word sausage thinking sausage link and not patty. There should have been a better description on the menu. The same could be said for the hash brown potatoes. Hash browns are potatoes and what they sent me was some gelatinous mess. The food wasn't all that great. I left no tip due to the server's attitude and lack of wanting to check back with us on how...
