First visit here tonight, looked forward to having some good food but unfortunately it wasn't what I expected.
You get bread when seated, bread was really hard and dry, not even the tiny cup of olive oil/balsamic vinegar they give you could help revive it. We ordered the calamari apperizer, it was ok, a bit salty a few pieces were hard n chewy and a tad on the overly fishy side. I ordered the lasagna for dinner, it was very rich, filled with a ton of cheese, no meat in there to taste although, they note it is made with veal and beef. The lasagna is served in a black skillet which was to hit to the touch but the lasagna inside of it was barely warm. Some areas of the lasagna had cheese that was so hard you could not even chew it or cut it with a knife. My BF had the lobster ravioli, which was a bit too al dente for his taste, other than that, it was just ok.
Overall, the menu offered limited options, more pizza than entrees. I would have hoped if you had mostly pizza options, they would be some amazing fresh ingredient fire pit cooked pizza but, not a chance of that here. They also only had 1 chicken dish and it wasn't even a pasta chicken option. I would have enjoyed a chicken piccata or a chicken parmesan since I dont eat fish. Sounds good to me but they do not offer anything like that.
We see absolutely zero reason to return here. Most of the waiters speak italian but this place is far from any good Italian food I've ever had. Over all this place was simply disappointing and to be honest, I hate spending over $150 on food and cocktails that I do not enjoy.
Personally I see this place as more for the older (cougar) ladies who need attention and enjoy the younger "Italian waiters" that speak to them in Italian and sit and have cocktails at thier tables with them instead of focusing on good food and service for all customers......im guessing its thier way to distract from the poor food quality.
Sorry Laffeyete, you can keep this phony Italian restaurant. There are plenty of other Italian restaurants near by to enjoy a good...
Read moreWe chose to dine on the lovely enclosed patio. The waiter took our wine order and delivered it small cruets poring a small amount in each of our glass for our approval. The service was spot on, attentive without being intrusive. The food was good, well prepared but not quite what we were expecting. I order the vegan lentil soup and the house salad. It was excellent, the lentils were cooked to perfection with a wonderful seasoning and veggies. The salad was slightly over dressed, but still very good. The special was salmon puttanesca. We are used to puttanesca with anchovies, capers, kalamata olives and chili flakes, a bit on the spicy side. The sauce was tasty but not what we would classify as puttanesca sauce. Keep in mind...it is "street walker sauce" = Putta. In Italy many of the restaurant make Puttanesca to feed the street walkers so they keep the economy going, so to speak. It does vary by region and city. We are used to the basic marinara enhanced with anchovies, capers, kalamata olives and chili flakes. We definitely will be back and try more, keeping in mind that Italian food varies by region. And this Almafi coast region food is delicious and filling
Update: We enjoyed Locanda Positano so much for dinner, I took my best friend their for Lunch. It was super delicious. We shared the Cesar Salad and SALSICCIA E FRIARELLI pizza. OMG was it yummy. Italian sausage, broccoli rapini and buffalo mozzarella on a thin flat bread. Seasoned to perfection. Last time my husband and I enjoyed the beautiful patio for dinner, this time we ate in doors and the decor is warm and welcoming! The Venetian hand blown chandelier is a true Italian touch. The patio is even set up with warm fuzzy blankets. We can't wait to...
Read moreLafayette- very attentive service and perhaps overly so. We were asked by three different staffers if we wanted more cheese on our dishes despite cheese being already the dominant infredient in two of the dishes. They were very nice. The Lafayette location had its charms for both inside and outside dining. It included a bar, perfect for solo diners. The food was quite dreadful. I had the prized eggplant parmesan. It was the siza of and shape of a small football and after one bite I Iost interest. The basic pizza was OK but again, nothing stood out. The crust, the sauce, the whole basil leaves— meh. The third entree we shared was the fried mixed veges with a couple of squid tentacles and maybe a shrimp or two. It was piled high on a platter so that the fried batter needed almost ten minutes to cool enough to eat. By then it was a fatty melted mess. There was no possibility of distinguishing the zucchini from the seafood by taste. Everything tasted like ssalty fat. Three of us barely burrowed into this heap of batter. For dessert my wife ordered gelato and instead of a tangy, light limon or hazelnut ice, she was presented with a huge bowl of vanilla ice cream with whipped cream. She didn’t complain because she was still hungry after only nivbling at the three entrees. The tapenade with the olive oli bread was OK as was the hot pepper in oil condiment.I suspect, however, that these were not homemade. We didn’t try the salad entrees which would have provided an alternative to the dullness of flavorless cheese, batter and salt. If I were tro return, I would go that route. Maybe extra parmesan on the mandarin orange and greens...
