I really liked the location of the hotel and the amenities however this visit fell short in many ways and was not worth the money spent.||We arrived from the SF airport and it was about 9pm. There were young boys about 7 yrs old grunting on the beautiful stairwell behind the checkout desk. Apparently, a wedding party was there and there were no parents watching these kids. The boys had their shirts off showing off their chests to each other like guerillas and their yelling and laughing was amplified by the acoustics of this large stairwell. The lady working the desk was frustrated as well but she did nothing about it. No management came to handle these kids. I was really shocked. This went on for about 30 min or more. ||So although this hotel is really nice with the spa and the restaurant and bar, the wedding guests took over the hotel both days we were there. They were loud in every area they were in, whether it was a hallway or the bar, or outside our room at 12:38pm. That was really frustrating and it ruined our stay.||I also noticed the second day we were there, we had our room cleaned but when I lifted the toilet seat up, there were feces in the toilet bowl. GROSS!||The coffee machine is nice, the bed was ok, the fake fireplace was cool, the room was spacious and had beautiful carpet.||But when hotel guests are rude and loud and don't care about being quiet, it is no fun and not worth $500/night.||Our second night eating dinner, we had to wait an hour for our food. We had reservations and not all the tables were even full. Supposedly, the kitchen was prepping for Mother's Day buffet for the next morning, but it was slowing down the kitchen to feed the people there wanting dinner!||I was again disappointed. Our salmon entree was tiny with maybe 2oz of fish. The fried calamari was good but after 48 min, I asked the waiter if he would please bring us bread. We were so hungry.||I saw the manager running around. The wait staff were nice but I just got the impression the hotel doesn't have the capacity to do special events(Mother's Day brunch, weddings and service regular hotel guests without failing miserably.||I tried to call the manager on Monday when I got back home, and Melinda was condescending on the phone and told me I would have to call back when they came in at 10:30am. I had hoped to not leave a negative review but overall, this place has so much potential but missed the mark and it...
Read moreThe Lafayette Park Hotel is an industry standard for hotel service and hospitality. Their customer service is stellar. My stays here are a welcomed change from the cookie-cutter, impersonal experience received at mainstream/chain hotels. During the twenty years of my patronage, this hotel has never ceased to meet or exceed my expectations.
Aesthetics: The building is old, but extremely well preserved and maintained. You can tell the hotel prides itself on cleanliness because the place is always clean and tidy. There’s a French-American theme with lots of Old World charm. Parking is limited, but we’ve never had an issue securing a spot. There are indoor and outdoor lounge areas scattered throughout the hotel. They are quaint and cozy; fountains, fireplaces, greenery, beautiful stonework, vintage furnishings… I especially love the little fireside lounge area in the lobby. We’ve had so many late nights with friends and drinks there. So many good memories.
Rooms: The rooms are spacious and clean. They offer LATHER brand toiletries that smell absolutely divine. They even provide makeup remover wipes and a cute little towel embroidered with the word “makeup” (it’s the little things). The bed and pillows are so comfortable. It feels like sleeping on clouds. Water pressure in the shower is great, and the water gets nice and hot. *The fridge didn’t get very cold. Sadly, my dinner leftovers did not survive to the next day.
Spa: My absolute favorite part about this hotel is the spa and spa amenities. I treat myself to a massage each stay. I cannot say enough good things about the massages I’ve received from The Park Spa. I have never been disappointed. Not only do you receive top quality spa services, but you also have access to the spa’s amenities; showers, relaxation room, spa and pool, dry heat sauna, and fitness center. You can even order food to be enjoyed poolside. And if it’s cold out, don’t worry, there is even a fireplace poolside.
The Park Bistro & Bar: The Lafayette Park Hotel also has an on-site restaurant. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious. *The service was pretty slow during our last visit, but our server’s pleasant demeanor and the food quality more than made up for the delays. Read moreThis is a review for the spa only. I visited the hotel to use the spa services. The massage was excellent! My massage therapist deserves 5 stars for her skills and therapeutic technique. The amenities at this spa are truly lacking and a huge disappointment. The one hour massage (with add on) was $210 (before tips), which is comparable to other high end places. However, usually at other hotels, that price includes the use of the facilities, including pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and day beds for sun bathing, as well as nice hair and body products to use after the treatments, so you can get ready for your next activity. I usually leave a spa feeling very relaxed and looking fresh and rejuvenated. Here, NONE of that is included. You have to pay an additional $35 to use the hotel pool or jacuzzi. Additionally, the changing area and lounge had none of the usual spa treats (light snacks, a wide selection of drinks, soft music, or even aromatherapy diffuser for ambience). None of it was available at this spa. They provided a cheap flimsy plastic comb in the bathroom, which broke when I tried to comb my hair after getting an oil scalp treatment. There was no brush available. They had a hair dryer, but what is the use of having a hair dryer when no brush is provided?!! It’s like having a pan available and no cooking utensils. There was nothing else to style my hair or make it half way presentable to go out afterwards. There’s no hair ties, hair products, dry shampoo…NOTHING at all to even put up my hair and make it half way presentable to go in public. It’s the little details that really matters and elevates a business from mediocre to excellent. The massage was excellent here, but the amenities fell way short of expectations. I probably won’t return because as much as I loved the massage, the amenities here were so lacking, it’s a hindrance to having a relaxing day. And why else would anyone go to a spa but to have a...
