Minami sushi bar — Restaurant in Lafayette

Decided to try out Minami for the first time today at lunch. Poor experience. My wife ordered sweet tea and I had water. Her tea came out as pale as if it was the LaCroix of tea, and it was unsweet. Strike 1. I ordered a rainbow roll, the white fish still had the tough silvery layer on it that was tough and fishy, not edible. The rest of the fish was good though. Wife ordered a lunch special which is supposed to come with soup, but realized after that she never asked about the soup and never brought any. Ordered no masago on one roll and no eel sauce on the other. It comes out with eel sauce on the roll, waitress realized it after my wife told her about it, she did offer to send it back. My wife declined and told her it was fine. 2nd roll still had masago in it and she didn't eat the rest of it. When the waitress brought the check she told her about the masago and no offer to remake to-go or remove from bill, just an excuse that the chef was new and that she had put it on the ticket to leave those items out but he didn't do it apparently. Poor service and mediocre food, especially for the price. Will continue with our usual sushi spots and not bother...

Minami is always a win! Whether I’m sitting at the bar or in a booth with friends or family, the vibe is always perfect. You can really tell that the people running this place have created a great atmosphere for both the staff and customers, and it shows in the service.

The food is incredible. If I’m not going for their lunch special (which is such a great deal), I’m usually getting the Saints Roll paired with any of their regular rolls. I also love the hibachi noodles, which are always a solid side. Honestly, I could close my eyes, point at the menu, and be happy with whatever I get. Everything is always delicious.
