Let me start off by saying, the only reason I ended up at this restaurant was from pure curiosity. After trekking through a corn maze I was left with a choice between $10 off at Pepe’s or a free appetizer at Texas Roadhouse. Trying to weigh both options I did some research to find that Pepe’s had less than stellar reviews, but I needed to form my own opinion. My partner and I arrived at Pepe’s and requested a table. After a 5 minute wait the hostess took us to a booth. Seeing that the table was still dirty and littered with crumbs and cups the hostess proceeded to grab a equally as dirty damp towel from a random busser and halfway wiped the table down before reassuring us that the table had “just been cleaned off.” Eventually we were brought out chips and water, or what they consider to be salsa. We put in our orders which consisted of a large queso, chicken fajitas, a combination platter, and a side order of fries just for the heck of it. Our food came out and I was presented with a “warmer” which was a wobbly metal stand with a flame that my fajitas sat atop of. Whoever came up with the idea needs fired. Safe to say I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and not in a good way. I was stuck between trying to balance my plate that was 5 inches off the table and trying not to burn the entire building down by accident. I counted maybe 6 pieces of chicken in my fajitas that was accompanied by an assortment of hamburger toppings, since their cheese of choice was shredded cheddar cheese. My partner barely ate any of his before offering me his plate. What he had was no better than a microwaved meal you’d find at Walmart. The flavor was non existent and the presentation was sad. 15 minutes into our meal a party that had been seated next to us stood up and left before even getting a chance to put in a drink order due to lack of service. The highlight of our meal was the french fries, which were actually pretty good. I’d like to say that’s a compliment buts it not due to the fact that we were dining at whats supposed to be a “Mexican” establishment. Save your money and go elsewhere. $45 for probably one of the worst excuses for Mexican cuisine. Support local restaurants. Glad we came so we know not to go back. Waitress was nice....
Read moreOk, so. We're here working for a couple weeks. I noticed one thing about every state from Tennessee to Ohio and out to Maryland... Different than TEXAS! I'm darn near 50 and don't even look close to 21, but everyone id's you up here. Crazy. I hate it. However, this brings me to the reason for my review. Just finished another 12 hour day, on the road and heard about Pepe's. Let me give you a reason to not go here. Ignore it. The place looks cool and is decorated to the "T". However, the bar tender needs to chill. Figured this place would have a great list of reviews and somewhat does. But the negative reviews stem from the bar tender. Either she's lazy and doesn't want to serve anybody, or she really doesn't like her job. Ask me for an id and I immediate take the tip from a mandatory 30$ to your going to try and earn it back. It didn't happen here. When my brother in law, who is with us and 43 years old, comes out of the bathroom and gives her the id, but it's expired, she says you can't even sit at the bar. Really. The whole point of id'ing someone is to verify they are of age. You can take your attitude and have the drinks you made. We will NEVER visit your establishment again. I will never recommend anybody to ever go here. And for some southern advice.... Your not the cops. Stop acting so rude. Try this... Pay attention to your customer. If they look like they're in their 40's, just got off work and want a nice drink and a friendly conversation... Start like this ". Hello, welcome to Pepe's, how's your day been, what can I get started for y'all". Pay attention... If your customer looks 18, 19 or 20... Then put up your force field. The bar tender here kills any possible vibe. I miss Texas. Tex Mex and Mexican restaurants in Indiana are just trying. This place is NOT worth the time. The bar tender, she needs an...

We enter and the hostess barely looks up at us and says "How many?". Then as we're led to our table the waitress complains out loud to the hostess that she has to wipe all the tables off, ignoring us completely then slamming down menus in front of us and walking away.
No hello, no nothing! She finally returns and says gruffly "Ready to order?", and silently glares at us as we tell her what we want. She writes it down, and abruptly turns and walks away again without any pleasantries.
She returns with our drinks and slams them down in front of us, tosses the straws on the table and walks away.
We just stare at each other unbelieving the attitudes. And this was on a Tuesday and the place almost empty.
When our food is ready she again, slams the plates in front of us, without a word, and walks away. She was so self-absorbed that she didn't even notice she gave us each the wrong plates of food.
And NOT once did she return to ask if our food was ok, did we need anything or even to refill our empty drinks!! Totally rude and ill-mannered.
Halfway into our meal she suddenly reappears and lays down the check in front of us and asks if she can remove our plates (plates clearly still half full).
We tell her no, and she glaring does an about face, and storms away.
We were going to refuse to be rushed or have our meals confiscated midway but quite honestly her rudeness ruined our meal, so we asked another waitress for carry out boxes, paid our bill and left.
This waitress "Amanda", either needs to get over herself, or be retrained on customer service, and how to treat people that pay your hourly wages, because without customers, she'd have no job -- come to think of it --maybe that would be best all the way around because quite frankly she has ruined...
