Rookies — Restaurant in Lafayette

This is long but I think being detailed in a review is important both for those looking for recommendations and for the business looking for feedback - First I know Rookies has changed a lot since they first opened as far as clientele it has become very diverse and I'll say they've done a great job making everyone feel comfortable even the music was a very good mix IMO to ensure all genre's were played-also my most recent visit was sat - it was special as I took my eldest child out for her 21st birthday and her being a rookie I thought it would be punny to go there- her first bar experience and she got the FULL experience both good and bad the bartenders and wait staff were very good to her even taking our picture and being in pics with her ( they don't have to take time to stop and do that - much appreciated. Bartender even made her a special birthday drink and hand delivered it to her - all great- the not so great that most of us over 30 have delt with the womans restroom had issues but instead of saying sorry we are busy they had some in taking care of it right away - then of course a bar fight ( a pretty intense one I might add ) BUT that happens at pretty much every bar what I'm grateful for is just how quickly and efficiently the entire staff was at handling that situation-fight wasn't stopping and once they realised that they literally got the entire group outside still fighting I might add. They did this in such a way no other customers got tangled in the mix or anything. Their customer service was on point and safety was number one and you could tell. You can't avoid bar fights they happen it's how they handle it that matters. I felt though my daughter saw some of the not so fun parts of being 21 in a bar Rookies did a wonderful job ensuring it wasn't a night that scared her for life and she had a very wonderful birthday! Hidden gem, at 30 I never thought bingo would be a weekly occurrence for me, but when my coworkers stumbled upon, and subsequently kidnapped me to come play I ended up finding a very solid bar experience. The first thing I noticed was I could actually taste the jack Daniels in my jack and coke, a rare occurrence these days. Then I ordered a quésodia, and it was the best thing I'd ingested in weeks. I was hooked on those for a while, but then I discovered the wings. I have no idea what they do to their boneless wings, but regardless of what sauce you take boss, those things are straight bussin. The first time I put one in my mouth it was like the chicken version of melt in your mouth steak. Shook. All the staff seem to really enjoy their jobs, and want to have fun. After 3-4 visits they have your starter drink on the table almost before you sit down.

Plus for me being able to smoke and drink is a massive plus for any bar, but I know that's changing for a lot of younger people, but most patrons have at least one smoker at their table or one over.

Touch tunes, ATM fee is $3, Xtreme bar bingo Thursdays and Saturdays with pull tabs, pull tab machines always by the door, Darts, average sized seating at the bar and in the main room, more on the patio.

I have been going to this bar for years, tonight caught me completely off guard. Never had I expected to be treated so rude. She got snotty with me about hotsauce, like I never had to explain what kind of hot sauce I wanted. She and I quote said “ how am I suppose to give you something and you Dnt know what you want”?. I was so furious because if I wanted wing sauce or Tabasco I would’ve said that. She completely ignored our table the rest of the night didn’t ask if we were ok or if we wanted another drink. I watched her refill drinks and clear tables across behind and in front of me. I am very upset about this situation. I am never visiting this bar again as long as she’s there. She disrespected me and made me feel very uncomfortable may seem minor but if you watched her like I did you’d understand. She blatantly disrespected me and I felt it every time she walked by and ignored the fact we weee there. I had 1 drink and food. Sat there 2hrs. She never returned...
