A friend and I stopped by for a bite to eat and a few beers, as soon as we sat down our waitress, Amy, promptly told us the bar was have a big anniversary celebration all week and there were awesome food and drink specials and that a band was playing soon... so we settled in for the night. Boy were we glad we did! Amy brought us some beers she recommended and they were great, as were the corned beef nachos (actually, those were insane). We enjoyed a couple more beers as we listened to the band tune up and tossed friendly banter across the room to another fun-loving table. We closed out with Amy, sad to leave her section, but we had to go watch Reilly! The band was awesome! Everyone was jammin'. Had a couple more beers while they played (great tap selection). I had to use the bathroom but the one up front was busy, I asked and even though they had closed off the back section of the restaurant they let me use the bathroom in the back. On my way back I found sweet Amy again! She's the greatest! Ask for her when you go! She introduced me to the owner (? I think? Who is one of the brothers? I think? I dunno, I had had several pints at this point, give me a break) He was extremely friendly and his lady friend was loving the band. All over, what was supposed to just be a quick bite turned into an entire evening full of awesome beer, great live tunes, good food and great service with a smile! I'd go back over and...
Read moreHad dinner on Sunday evening at 9 Irish brothers. Our group had prime rib, salmon, pepper steak, and Irish Stew. We had the chips and shrimp cocktail for appetizers. Overall a good experience. The menu definitely has an Irish bent to it. The chips were very good. So I would suggest ordering them. They need to step up their game on the shrimp cocktail, or take it off the menu, Shrimp were too small, and did not really have any taste. Cocktail sauce was a bit disappointing. The prime rib was excellent. The salmon was quite good, it was well seasoned, and the portion was fairly generous, but it was a bit on the over side. Their mashed potatoes are very very good. The pepper steak was ok, but nothing to rave over. Unfortunately the stew was underwhelming, it lacked meat and potatoes, Service was very attentive, and the atmosphere was very Irish. I did not like the fact that many of the seats were stools, not so great for those who want back support. This place could easily be a 5 for me if they stepped up their game just a bit. They have a lot going for them, but they need to put in some more effort. i don't think you would be disappointed with 9 Irish Brothers Lafayette. I would not hesitate to go back, but as I said they need to step it up a bit. Maybe a tenth...
Read moreIf you are looking for hearty western comfort food, Nine Irish Brothers is the place to go. They have wonderful pub fare that you would only typically find in a European locale arguably (e.g., bangers and mash and shepard's pie) but also more humble classics Americana (chef salad). Their soda bread with craisins is hearty, well-balanced in terms of density, and pairs well with a bowl of their corn chowder or a standalone, slightly-sweet appetiser/snack.
The staff there are quite friendly, patient, and helpful. They will help you understand the dishes on their menu if they are new to you.
The only 'caveat lector/emptor' warnings I have, tho', are:
The parking lot is a bit difficult to navigate when multiple cars are moving about within it and almost impossible if the sun is shining very brightly. Be careful backing out of a parking space, you may potentially hit another car or run over the kerb.
If you order online, their electronic menu is a bit confusing due to how their 'additions/add-ons' are presented. Due to the lack of clear text descriptions, it is not clear if you would be selecting how to alter the original configuration of the main dish or adding to it (e.g.,...
