Nelson's Donuts — Restaurant in Lake Charles

There’s something extra special about these donuts. I’ve lived in Lake Charles for 1 year & several people told me to try Nelson’s & WOW ! Amazing, these donuts melt in your mouth ! I have sampled a lot of donuts across several cities/states, in my 30-ish years, & I haven’t tasted a donut that comes to close to Nelson’s ! I mean really, Krispy Kreme & Southern Maid have nothing on Nelson’s. Nelson’s recently caught on fire, my kids and I have been devastated. We bond over our weekly treat to Nelson’s donuts. There is nothing like warm, melt in your mouth, glazed donuts. It's been over a year since I've visited the legendary Nelson's Donuts. I stopped by at 5:00 a.m. today. I ordered a dozen glazed, expecting hot donuts or at least warm donuts because I was there bright and early at 5:00 a.m. The donuts were room temp. It's almost like I got left over from the day before donuts. I was really disappointed. Went for the sausage and jalapeno kolaches, but they were out of those, which was fine. They told me only boudin kolaches were available, so I ordered 2 of those instead. When I got home and opened the bag, I saw that I had something completely different which contained ham and cheese inside instead of boudin. I just took it as a loss as I did not feel like driving back. I only left 3 stars because the glazed donuts I ordered were warm and really good.
