McNeese State University — Attraction in Lake Charles

I was a student in the Mass Communication program at McNeese for two years, and I can honestly say that it was a waste of time, and I didn't learn any skills that helped me find a job in the mass comm field. Yes, I found one, a good one, but it was because I knew someone high up and he helped me!

None of the four professors in this program knew anything or knew very little about television production. In the only production class offered at this school, Mrs Chere Breaux, the teacher was hated by all of us. She knew nothing about editing- nonlinear or linear, studio cameras or anything dealing with the technical aspect of television production. We mostly just sat in there and watched television. I mostly watched football highlights online, she grades hard, but cant teach or explain anything.

Dr Chrisco, a racist in my opinion said many racist charged comments towards me about my dark skin, and in front of the class and even in her office. I asked her some questions about television production, and she could not answer any of them. She is scared of all black people now, because years ago, she picked up two black guys hitch hacking and they robbed her at gunpoint, now, she believes that all black people are robbers and bad people. You will see what I mean when you get into her class.

Dr. John Condo, easy class, you will just sit in there and listen to a speaker, no homework or test, you will get an A, but long term, you will be upset because you will not be able to find a job because you didn't learn anything about television production!

Lake Charles is a racist area, and the campus and local police are racist, and will harass you often! Many black students before I went there, told me that they are racist there, and I didn't believe them, but I went got there, I found out that they were telling the truth. You will see it. DON'T GO THERE IF YOU WANT TO LEARN AN ADVANCE LEVEL OF...

If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. I've never actually wrote a review for anything before but this university has been so frustrating since day one, that I had to say something about my bad experience here. This university is the closest university around to where I lived (30 minute commute) and is by far the worst most frustrating experience i have had with a school. Instantly ran into problems with them from the time i applied to this school and still after I left this school which was over a year ago. The classes and teachers were good, but i'm giving this place 1 star because of all the technological frustration with this place. Complete waste of my time attending this school when I run into problem after problem still. I can't even request my transcript because they claim I have an administration hold on my profile that prevents me from requesting transcripts. I paid off this fee days ago so now part of the website says that I still have this hold on my profile and another part of the website says that my debt is paid. That's only one of the many problems I have encountered with this school. Glad I am not attending anymore. Everyone else i knew that attended this college didn't have a good experience either but had to attend because it's the only university around. I just want to dissociate myself completely...

Senior just trying to graduate. I’ll start off saying I won’t be referring my children to this institution on the future. They care very little about their education and a lot about their athletics. I haven’t learned anything in the last 3 semesters, so I’m just paying for a piece of paper with my name on it. Not for a professor to teach me.
