First Visit. Disaster. We arrived at 3pm. Table for 2 (celebrating or 30th anniversary). Took 10 mins to get our drink order (It took visits from 2 people to make this happen. NOTE: The 2nd person was not our server. She offered bread. We accepted). It took another 10-15 mins to make our appetizer order (which our server took [3rd person we encountered]). Although the timing was questionable from such a highly rated establishment, we accepted it, but felt it wasn't painting a good picture for us during out first visit. We were only 1 of maybe 4-5 other tables in the store at this time. HINT: They weren't busy. My partner informed the server it was our 30 year anniversary. She congratulated us. It took about 15-20 mins to get our appetizer (we're now 35+ mins in). Our entre' order was taken. We ordered the New York Strip with Shrimp. My salad came about 10-15mins later (we're now 50+ mins in). 20 mins after that...still no entre'. Our server drops by and informs us she took the order but didn't submit it properly. So nothing has been prepared yet. She apologized and assured us it was now submitted properly (we're now 70 mins in). 15+ mins later our entre' arrives (we're now 85 mins in). Now NOTE: Other tables that arrived after us are wrapping up their meals and leaving. We set patiently (I'm actually freezing and the lighting at the table is less then what needed to see our food - I suppose they sat us at the romantic table....Phf! The point is, I'm uncomfortable and the lighting is horrible). NOTE: My partner asks for ranch dressing for his broccoli, which came with his entre' (the ranch dressing NEVER came!). We begin eating or entre'. NOTE: it's been like 1.5 hrs between the time we initially sat down, and the time our entre' arrived). This is unacceptable. (I keep my composure because it's or anniversary). We're wrapping up our meal about 10 mins later. Our server offers desert. I want desert (it's my anniversary). We order the carrot cake "to go" and I ask for a cup of coffee. I feel we've been held hostage in this restaurant long enough. I just want to drink a cup of coffee and leave (the Coffee NEVER came!). The server brought the bill; we said nothing about the Ranch dressing or the coffee; we paid it quickly and left a 20% tip (which I now regret, but I'm a good customer and choose to remain that way), then leave....1 hour 45 mins since we entered. We exited the restaurant humble and grateful we were able to spend quality time together dining out. We believed choosing this restaurant on our anniversary would be a quality and memorable experience. Oh, it was memorable alright, but quality, eh... One last note. The couple that was sat next to use when we received our entre', had their salad in 5 mins. The were eating their entre when we walked out 15 mins later! I would NOT recommend that anyone waste their time patronizing this restaurant. I refuse to accept this reasoning, but were we given poor service because we were gay? In any case. I'll...
Read moreOur server asked would we be using our Landry Select card and each couple handed her two separate cards. I specifically told our server that I did not have enough points to cash in, however the other couple told her they did and that it would be separate bills. She asked for our drink order and we ordered water and two alcoholic drinks. I asked were we covered under Happy Hour. The answer may or may not shock my review readers. Happy Hour at this Salt Grass is only available at the bar we were told. So word of advice....get your drinks at the bar first if you want the Happy Hour discount. The Wild Turkey drink that was brought to the table was more water than alcohol. We didn't order an appetizer, so she said she would bring fresh bread right out and give us a few minutes to look over the menu.
Now it gets complicated....Up walks a new young lady.....Sonya. Announcing she would be our new server, and that our former server would still be bringing our drinks, could she take our order. I immediately asked did she have our Landry cards and she said yes they were in the back. Our drinks arrived in the middle of ordering and I asked her what happen. She indicated that there was a miss communication about who would be working what area. From my passed experiences, our original server should have remained at our table, because that is where our experience probably should have been a 2 and I was generous by giving them a 3. Because of the change up, our bread never arrived. I finally had to ask our new server had she over looked us and it came right out.
Food Order: Grilled Chicken, sweet potato and salad - Chicken Perfect Ribs and Shrimp, baked potato and Caesar salad - Everything was Great Wagon Boss, garlic potatoes and salad - Ordered Medium but Steak was chewy and dry Filet Mignon, garlic potatoes and Caesar salad - Steak Dry (We asked management (Phillip) to bring us additional butter to pour over the 2 steaks, so they weren't so dry)
I called Landry Select customer service the following morning in hopes of clearing up the point matter. According to them, it appears that my card was only swiped for the drink and not my entire meal. My account was credited immediately. I have had better dining experiences with Landry's. I felt like this was just an off night for Saltgrass.
After speaking with Customer Service, I called and spoke with Mike, who was the manager on duty at Saltgrass. While he was not there last evening he was so kind and took the time to listen and address all my concerns. He did offer to comp 2 entrees for me, but I declined. To me it's more important to fix all the hiccups for my next visit. I feel confident that all my issues will be addressed by management.
My experience is not typical for a Saltgrass and I would encourage you to visit any Saltgrass or Landry restaurant for a fabulous...
Read moreFelt discriminated in this restaurant, had our name listed for wait list waited for 30mins, coming to our suprise seeing multiple people are seated before who just came in, we never received a txt, we were only outside patiently waiting in their bench, followed up with front desk, waited patiently another 10mins because they said we miss a txt, which we never received and they admit it sometimes doesnt go through, I let this passed knowing it does sometimes happen with tech, Upon seating, no server presented we waited 18mins until I called the supervisor’s attention. A server (kelsey) in that location didnt even bother to ask if we have been attended or even offered water nor drinks, She was too busy talking loud with other server, We patiently waited until Bailey attended us, Appetizer were served appropriately, but the main dish were served more than 30mins, we’ve loss our appetite due to prolong serving. Upon billout we were suprised multiple items were added that we didnt ordered resulting @ $257.33. After correction it went down to $184.62. After multiple incident i dont see myself doing another business with this restaurant and I would like to leave this review to let others know. Also noticed that all server are white while the clean up people are all african american. I should have known that it makes sense why they serve poorly with other race, Supervisors only choose who they approach and never apologize for long wait, poor service, and overcharge mistakes. knowing she was aware of it. PS* Kelsey I hope you do good on your cosmetic career cause you’re really...
