Booked here for a fun stop along a road trip, I regretted not booking it on the way to Texas because the lazy river would've been fun and make it feel like a vacation with all the driving. So on the way back we booked here, 2 queen beds (2 adults, 3 kids). We were looking forward to the Lazy river- the entire reason I booked here. We get in around 7, first room, the girls 6 &8 go directly for the balcony which doesn't lock. Called the front desk and they said they'd send someone up. So while we're waiting, looking all over the room for menu or info on food. Not one, this room had clean beds, some areas on the ground could've been cleaner. Not sure how long we wait on the really nice fix it guy, husband goes for burgers down at the lake beach because it looked like everything else on our phone had reservations and the Bills ohone line was busy and couldnt get through. One daughter wants to go, both swarmed and covered in mosquito bites while out there- oh joy, that added to the fun searching for post bite Topicals after we move rooms again. The lock was broken so husband called, phone line in room kept disconnecting- must be broken, so he had to go down from 14th floor to front desk. She told him they were so booked we might not get another, entire eyeroll because the parking lot is not full and we can find rooms online cheaper than what we booked. So we get moved to the 15th floor, again another balcony door with the lock broken and not even there. So we all 5 walk down to the front desk with our stuff and burgers we would like to eat since we've been on the road 12 hours. Staff is very sweet, asked what time the pool is open(assuming pool and lazy river are the same) told 10pm, cool we have a little over an hour now, checked in around 7. Moved to the 5th floor, shit view but whatever, get the kids to the pool. Lazy river closes at 8pm,so it was already closed by the time they got down there. At this point, I say we should've just booked Holiday Inn, they dont let us down and get breakfast in the am. 2nd room, looked clean and both room 1 and 2 had the nice bolster pillows on the bed, nice when nursing a baby. 3rd room did not, beds clean, someone's long brown hair in bath tub. No refrigerators, after searching because with all of that we barely got to eat and then couldn't save them. We were excited to get in to this awesome casino hotel from online pictures, get the kids in pool/dinner and then we could alternate and go explore casino. Well we got them to a pool, had to throw away dinner, and go search the vehicle for bug bite Topical, mom didn't get to the pool and neither one of us to even check out the casino. You'd think you would want us in the casino? Anyways- super nice staff was the positive. I'm annoyed but more disappointed because we thought this would be a great midpoint stop in between family to stay again and again, airbnb or Holiday Inn is my next pick. They could've done anything extra to make the moves, waste of time, making our night with 3 kids even more tiring but no- just really nice staff who wants to talk...
Read moreI would never get tired of going here at Golden Nugget I would come here every weekend for their wonderful facilities like shopping, restaurants, nightclub, Sports bars, golfing, even not only this place is so romantic out there in the pool or sitting by the window and having a delicious meals but this place is also great for spending time with the families and friends it is so relaxing and you could also go shopping and celebrate holidays and have special events and have your wedding our anniversary or even business events and a whole lot of concerts of variety music that I really enjoy:-)! There is one thing I was so unhappy and uncomfortable there was a singer named Aaron Lewis he is a good singer but shows not only foul language but shows me very Prejudice man I felt very awkward and wanted to yell to tell him that not all Asian people is trying to take advantage of the United States system of supporting and paying for our living expenses there was a song titled China what gives him the right to sit there and not even think about that most of us not only serve in the militaries to fight for the United States in war and we do pay our taxes and lots of it my father came here to go to college in struggle a lot in Ohio shoveling deep High snow of ice getting paid $0.25 a hour with his brother and working as a waiter in New York he would drive over there from Ohio and work his way to college and my father got offer to be hired by President Bush senior and I told my father not to do that because I know that he will not be happy to live there because all the families live in Houston, Texas and my mother will be miserable how dare him to sit there and put us down because we are Asian I have worked my way I'm 61 years old now and I have volunteer and took care of a lot of people and pay my taxes and I am born in Ohio and I am a citizen how dare him to insult everybody and I work for doctors and took care of elderly people I am extremely proud to be an American and I vote also there are some things that Aaron Lewis said that I do agree upon like not having China to take over the farmland and buying it and I do agree that some of Asian products is either dangerous or cheaply made but there is no reason to tell all the Asian people to go back to their country there is a reason why we come here is not only because to make more money to bring back to anybody's countries because I know about even the Hispanic families makes more money here in the United States and bring it back to their countries and live there I have no problem with that as long you legally work and not taking advantage of the government help constantly and I could tell you this should be no pinpointing of any nationalities and having awful discrimination and Prejudice going around the world if you are really a true Christian you will not do this type of singing of songs and bashing people color of their races then you have just sin and you're not a real...
Read moreGOLDEN NUGGET vs L'AUBERGE: If you’re planning to gamble in Lake Charles you probably want to know about these 2 places. I’ve spent a fair amount of time in both so I will review both here. First off the Golden Nugget is possibly the most lavish, upscale casino in Louisiana. It’s got plenty of posh restaurants and shops, and reminds one of a higher-end Vegas casino. Their hotel rooms are beautifully appointed and elegant. However the L’auberge rooms have been renovated pretty recently, so might be just a bit nicer. But to be fair, you will be quite comfortable in either. Both hotels have nice pools with a lazy river, but again the Golden Nugget’s is slightly larger and maybe has better amenities overall. But all this comes at a price, for example: if you just want to buy an inexpensive deli sandwich to munch on before gaming, that’s not gonna happen at GN. L’a has a reasonably priced place to buy sandwiches and salads all night. At GN even the soup at the Asian place is nearly $12. Everything is somewhat pricey. But GN often has live entertainment at it’s upscale bar that can be heard throughout the casino. It’s the nicer of the two places unquestionably. Despite the fact that GN seems to be larger and have more going on, the casino floors are roughly about the same size. L'auberge clearly used to be the better choice for gaming, but several years ago Penn took over and things are quite different now. However freeplay is still more liberal from L'a. For a modest amount of play you can expect to get a couple nights comped during the week, along with a couple meals. We tried to get a meal comp at GN once and the casino host essentially said: if you want comps then play slots. Ridiculous. Also if you try to bring a large purse or backpack to the GN casino or table, they may give you a hard time, or not even let you in or sit with it. L'a seems a bit more lax on this. If you like to drink then L’a is where you want to go, no question. The servers consistently take great care of you and alcohol at L’a is more generous; plus some of the cocktails are unexpectedly well crafted for a free drink! At GN the liquor pours are comically small, so the drinks always seem weak. I drink neat so a couple of the more savvy servers at GN would just bring me 2 at a time, even though they’re not supposed to. Video poker used to be much better at L'a but now, not as much. Although neither casino seems to payback well on their slots, the payback at L'auberge is absolutely horrendous... just don't to it! You will only lose and lose. As for which I prefer, it's harder to say now but as a table player, maybe GN. L'a doesn't seem to give us any promo table play anymore. Maybe if you play video poker at higher denoms then L'a would be better for you. But if you want a more upscale experience, and don’t mind paying for it, then the Golden Nugget is gonna be...
