It was good. Honestly, I was not expecting it to be so delicious. I went for their all you can eat buffet and ate all I could.
I got a bit rice salad, fruit, and butternut squash soup to start it off. The rice in the rice salad had a, how should I say it, al dente texture. It also had a bit of raisins and some other things mixed in for flavor. It really was a delectable salad.
I then moved on to devour some garlic mashed potato with steak Diane, topped off with some delicious cod and a palatable vegetable medley. A delicious bread roll also found its way onto my plate. A detailed description of each item is found below.
The garlic mashed potato really brought out the garlic flavor, something I really enjoyed. It also had the perfect mushiness mashed potato should have. It was too globby nor to mushy, but just right. I drizzled a bit of the sauce from the steak Diane, and I felt like I transcended into some other-worldy realm.
The steak Diane was the whole reason we went there. I have to say, if I have any negative comments to say about this restaurant, it would be on this one. The steak was too salty and dry for my personal taste. It came with some mushrooms which were pretty decent.
The cod with breaded topping was quite impressive. I enjoyed savoring over the freshness of the cod, while crunching the bready topping which was baked perfectly.
The vegetable medley was done very well. I was happy to see the fact that they did not add a ton of butter, salt, pepper, etc. onto the beans, squash, and sweet pepper. I was thoroughly delighted by the simple vegetable medley.
The bread roll was epic. It was perfectly baked, and had a nice floury flavor. Floury, an interesting word to use, but I can think of no other.
After stuffing myself with all those goodies, I headed off to wolf down some desserts. They had such a multitude of desserts! I wanted to try a little bit of this and a little bit of that but there were just too many things to try and they were all sooooooooo mouthwatering! I cannot remember all the desserts I tried that day, but here is the description of some of my favorites.
There was a pastry with some nice fruit in it. I remembered the sparkling of my eyes when my teeth sank into the fluffiness of the pastry and then into the jammed fruit within. It had the combination flavor of fresh fruit and ambrosial pastry. It was probably my favorite dessert there.
I also had a highly palatable chocolate pudding. It had a topmost layer of some crispy, sugary, coating and a nice cold chocolate pudding that melted in your mouth.
They had an extraordinarily moist chocolate cake, cheesecake, a puff with cream in it, a raspberry cake-like thing, some peanut candies, and many other toothsome desserts.
I highly recommend everyone...

My husband and I came here tonight for Dinner to celebrate our 41st Anniversary of meeting at the London House restaurant in Denver, Colorado so it was a sweet Celebration and the Staff made it even more so with their Attentive Service and little extras throughout the night!!
They had cute little salt and pepper shakers for sale on the tables that all had different characters on them so we bought two chefs for the salt and pepper shakers ...they were so adorable and reminded me of my Grandmother having a room full of collectable Salt and Pepper Shakers when I was growing up!!
They served us bread rolls and butter and I had roast duck with wild rice and my husband had prawns and they brought us all complimentary champagne for celebrating our 41 years of meeting!
They gave me a tour of the place because we are thinking of Hosting our 40th Wedding Anniversary there in February in the Veranda Room as it is just such a special place!
We also ordered their Lake Elmo Sin desert which was a caramel and cream and hard toffee and chocolate coating on a desert that we split!
Our waitress then proceeded to bring out a warm washcloth for each one of us that had fresh clove oil on and for us to freshen our hands and our face and then also brought out two chocolate dipped strawberries for us that were so delicious and two red envelopes that we are to open in the next month and to bring back to the restaurant for a discount and different free merchandise all to welcome us back!!
It looks like they also have wonderful brunches on Sundays and we will have to come back to check out that also...

Read moreThis wasn't just going out for dinner, this was a dining experience from beginning to end. Our anniversary rolled around again, and I wanted to take our dinner to the next level, so convinced my wife to come to the Lake Elmo Inn. The experience was better than what we had in NYC when we lived there.
We were warmly greeted and seated. The server and staff were wonderfully attentative and helpful. Drinks came fast and were wonderful. This was the best LI Iced Tea I have ever had at a restaurant. Shortly thereafter the apps came out. We loved the Irish Truffles. After the truffles, we were offered lemon sorbet to cleanse the palate. We ordered the specials, since they both sounded amazing, king salmon and NY Strip with a cognac sauce. The entrees were excellent. After that, we moved on to desserts. Sin of the Inn was amazing. Tres Leches was fantastic. Macaroons were the best we've had. We enjoyed these with coffee. To finish things off, we were served champagne to celebrate our anniversary, and then given warm cinnamon scented towels and chocolate covered strawberries.
I will say this. The Lake Elmo Inn my not be what folks from other areas are looking for. It stays in its lane, serving a variety of delicious food, but it's not LA or NYC, it's local. They serve food from local farms, walleye, sunfish, etc. That said, Lake Elmo Inn is the gold standard for a dining experience in...
