The food was delicious, though I do think my plate sat while my boyfriend's was being made: he cut into his omelet and it was piping hot; I cut into mine and it was luke-warm. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to make a big deal--it tasted delicious and what could really be done? But even if I had wanted to mention this, our server never came back to check on us. Not once. The person who brought us our check wasn't our server. We ate our entire meal and never had anyone come over. We are very low-maintenance but a quick check-in with us would've been appreciated.
Based on TASTE, I'd give 5/5 stars. I got an omelet with braised beef and bacon (plus cheese), and the beef was SO good. Highly recommend. Aside from being luke-warm, the biscuit and the potatoes were delicious. Then, we sat a full 12-15 minutes after we finished eating, waiting on a check. Like I said, the girl who finally did bring us the check was not our server. We asked her about getting lattes to go (it was now 2:01, and we knew you were closed at 2:00...but there were still 5 or 6 other tables of actively-eating patrons). I acknowledged that we knew they were trying to close up ("We know you're closing, but could we get lattes to go?"). I'd rather her just have said, "We've cleaned the espresso machine," or whatever, rather than her response: very curtly she said, "What do you want?" My boyfriend and I looked at each other and obviously got the same vibe from her. So I said, "That's okay. We'll get something somewhere else." She then tried to back peddle, but we paid our check and left. It was just disappointing. If our server had brought us our check when we were finished eating (12-15 minutes prior) we could've had our lattes to go before you even closed. The other thing that rubbed me the wrong way is you charge 18% gratuity outright. So what's the incentive for servers to give warm, friendly service (or even to come check on us in our case) when they know they have a built-in tip. I am a classic OVER tipper; I tip 20% or more when service is good. We didn't add anything extra today because we were given our food and left to our...
Read more01/28/2022 This may have been the La Provence we visited about 10 years ago before they moved. 🤔 It’s now a stylish American cafe with a lovely ambiance. It’s always very crowded, so be prepared to wait for a seat. We had the Waffle Waffler (Fried Chicken & Le Waffle Lyonnaise) and the Pork Schnitzel & Gravy. For drinks, we ordered coffee and dirty chai. For dessert, we tried the Sticky Bun, which was freshly made, soft, and absolutely delicious. 🤤 09/14/2023 We hadn’t been able to visit for a long time because they close at 2:00 PM, and we usually work during those hours. As expected, it was crowded again. This time, we enjoyed the Monte Cristo and the Chocolate Berry Dream, paired with a chai latte and coffee. ☕ The food was as delightful as always. The only downside is that it can be a bit difficult to get a coffee refill, as the staff are often quite busy. 😅 Despite that, we had another relaxing and rejuvenating experience. 12/28/2024 We enjoyed the house wine and a mocktail while sharing the avocado toast and taco salad. It was, as always, very busy, but honestly, it’s worth the wait every time! 12/31/2024 We treated ourselves to Coffee and an Espresso Martini along with the Chocolate Berry Dream and Great Expectations. The cocktail took a bit longer to arrive than we hoped, but everything was absolutely delicious. The waffles here are always freshly made—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and simply amazing. 02/25/2025 (Tue) Banana Chocolate Crunch ($15) Fried Chicken Waffle ($16), Coffee ($4x2) 04/10/2025 (Thu) Smoked Salmon Avocado Benedict ($19) Fried Chicken Waffle ($16) House Wine ($7), Chai Spanish...
Read moreThis USED TO be a favorite restaurant. My rule is "3 strikes, and you're out." The first two had to do with the coconut yogurt. One time it had spoiled, and the wait staff had an employee try it and agreed. Then, the next time, I thought it seemed room temp but didn't say anything. Vomited when I got home. (I wrote to them to tell them to watch the food quality and did not post about it).
On the recent visit, there were multiple things about the service that lacked. My friend was told the fryer was down AFTER she ordered. Since the fryer was down, they also couldn't serve potatoes with my breakfast. So, I asked about a fruit cup and was told it would be extra. Seemed like they could make an exception given the limits on the menu with equipment down. I was given an omelette instead of my scramble. That's not a huge deal, but it wasn't very long, and they came back with the scramble. It was not hot. Clearly, it had been sitting a while. Last, I didn't see a sign, reviewers mention, regarding 18% auto tip. So, the wait person got a $17.70 (41%) tip on a lunch that cost $42.75 (Totaled $60.48) I realize it's my bad for not paying attention to the itemized bill, but I already tip well.
I am so disappointed that it has gone downhill. If you're going to have an auto tip, make sure the service is average or above. I DO tip on top of the auto tip when it is declared and great service. *Why can't the wait staff verbally TELL you and/or print it on the menu? (Apparently, there is a small sign off to the side on the table that you're...
