Walter Mitty's Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Lake Oswego

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night at around 7pm, and the restaurant was empty, except for 3 people sitting in the bar area. We used to come here regularly up until about 10 years ago, and the place was always full on a Friday or Saturday night. We like the atmosphere of the restaurant. It has a very warm, sort of rustic vibe. It's sad that it seems to be dying, it used to be a popular family dining spot. It may be because the plaza has fallen into disrepair.

There were no servers present, and the bartender was taking care of everyone. She was doing her best, but not able to be as attentive as a waitress would be.

Food was a mixed bag, good and bad. My wife ordered the Fettuccine ($17) with a cup of chowder (add $3). Both were good. The chowder was a little too fishy tasting for my wife, but I thought it was quite good. The Fettuccine was very rich and cheesy.

I ordered the Bleu Cheese Burger ($17) with tots. It had some kind of thick brown sauce that tasted like soy sauce. It did not blend well with the bleu cheese crumbles. I did not care for it at all, and didn't finish it.

They didn't have any stout or porter beer, which I prefer. So we just had water to drink.

I'm not sure what it will take to save Walter Mitty's, but I hope they figure it out. We might come back if in the area to see if things...

Absolutely awful experience, and a waste of money. Went there to have dinner with my wife and child, and it seems as though the place has become just a bar, with a dying restaurant attached to it. It took way too long to have our order taken, and then it was quite obvious all of the food was hastily prepared store bought junk. I got clam chowder, that I would bet money was Progresso canned clam chowder, that they microwaved in a bowl. The spinach and artichoke dip seemed store-bought as well, that they just pureed in a blender to make it look homemade. And then on top of all of that, the sirloin steak that I ordered for $21 was literally inedible. I'm a very very poor cook, and I could have made a steak better than that. This is maybe the second or third review I've ever left in my life, but the experience was so horrible, I felt the need to leave this review. Lastly, when I told the waitress I wasn't going to pay for the steak that I didn't eat, she became Snappy and rude. Probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever...

I was disappointed by the service at Walter Mitty's. The meals were fine, the service was subpar. The waitress took our order and it was it delivered in a timely manner. But after that she never returned to check on us and see if there was anything more that we might want or need. Instead she spent most of her time engaged in conversation with the patrons at the bar, and didn't follow up to see if there was anything further that we would need. It wasn't until the guests at the bar started to leave that she returned to check on us and present the check. Walter Mitty's the food good, but the service was well below par. I've spent 20 plus years in food service from simple dinning to events for a 1000+ guests. I can safely say that Walter Middy's owner should work to over come...
